Hi, Hope you can help, tring to find out a how you go about getting a garden make over done for someone, i have family living in Hong Kong who have just bought a brand new townhouse in Newcastle, they are coming over to the UK in August for there Daughters wedding ( my niece) who also lives in Hong Kong, I have moved them in and the place looks fab but the rear garden is just a pile of soil, they have lots of friends coming from all over the world, for the wedding.
It would be lovely to suprise my brother in law with a completely made over garden from scratch.
The garden is only small, most of it is taken up with the conservatory. Bill..

Hi Bill,

I would suggest that you go onto the BBC website and go to the gardening pages and then follow the links to the shows that do make overs but it is highly unlikely that it would be done in time... usually they plan 6 - 9 months in advance...

Why dont you arrange a gardening party - you supply the drink and the people you invite supply the labour... I would suggest that the easiest thing to do would be to put a patio down outside the conservatory and then create borders around the edge and fill this with colourful shrubs and plants which are going to look good in August...

You could keep maintenance down by covering the borders with weed supressing membrain and put a bark mulch over this which you plant through.

You could also ask for people to donate plants as wedding gifts - you will need climbers for the fences/walls - clemetis/honeysuckle, shrubs - choisya, euronymus, peris (if the soil is suitabl) and the like, lavenders, roses - there are many with wedding conatations - like Happy Day, Wedding Day etc...

If it is a small garden do not worry about a lawn its maintenace would be more trouble that its worth...

Good luck

Angela Smile

Smile Smile Smile Smile Hi if you are looking for anyone to have a garden make over I would really love to recommend my son and daughter in law. They moved house five weeks ago just after the birth of their second child who is just nine weeks old. They have moved from a very small house with small garden to a larger house with an even enormous over grown garden. The people in the house before them obviously had no interest nor ideas on gardening . With a very new baby and another child of 19 months time is limited and the toddler is desperate to play in the garden. They have had a difficult couple of years having lost two pregnancies, one early the other very late on. But are now blessed with the their two baby sons. Also as the Nana I would love them to have a lovely area to play safely and invite their other seven cousins over to play. Many thanks, hope you are planning a new programme soon. Regards Roz

Wink Smile Smile Big Grin Hi there please please could you help with my Daughter and son-in laws garden,Aimee and David have recently bought a house which needed complete renovation, both sets of parents helped as much as we could to the point of forgetting where we lived,it was a race against the clock to try and get them in for christmas but sadly for all our efforts we didnt get them in until new years eve which was Davids 21st birthday, family and friends saw the new year in with them in their lovely new home.
Aimee and David are lovely young adults who both work so hard to have their own home a fact that we are very proud of,it has been a struggle for them to get to this point especially with the ups and downs of life and sadly the loss of family members,Aimees grandmother especially whom she was so close to sadly passed away 21 months ago from cancer,Aimee helped my wife to care for her through her illness and to keep her home instead of hospital which was her wish,Aimees nan always said to make sure she got her own home as quick as she could and we know she too is looking down very proud, the problem is the money has run out for the garden and quite honestly none of us are very green fingered so please please could you help this lovely young couple, many thanks
