Could anyone please tell me how or if it is possible to laminate stairs and a landing, I have heard that some people have managed to do this using angle iron for the front of the stairs, has anyone got any ideas or suggestions, I have one dog two 5 month old mad puppies and a cat, so no carpet atall is my goal, much easier to keep clean a fresh with all the pets running around.

hello,
i honestly wouldnt suggest laminate on stairs, could prove to be too slippery for little paws when they are running around, and for you too, if you rush down the stairs in socks one day!
if you are totally against carpet, can you not paint or stain the stairs (if they are wood!) just make sure you sand well first. you could do a wash over them, so you can still see the grain, or paint in a special floor paint to cope with the wear and be washable too. or pant with normal paint and add a couple of coats of varnish, but again, back to it being slippery.
you could get a runner for the stairs, that way it would be cheaper to replace than a whole carpet. or just get a cheap bit and it could be replaced in a couple of years.
hope this helped a little

Hi Shaz,

I have to agree with Riah... have you ever walked up bare stairs?... it reasonates throught the house... I would get one of the new generation powerful rechargable hand held vac's and have it on hand to clear up any hairs or accidents... and stick to stairs carpet which is stain resistant.

although i agree with the others, i have managed to laminate my steps. Basically you cut a piece each for the tread and riser and where the join is, you can buy some plastic strips (L shaped) from B & Q about £1.15 for about six foot piece, in the same shades as the laminate and stick them over the join. It looks fine. Where the join is on the inner step, you can put the usual piece of stip wood used to cover the gap.
