Frown Just on the end of building a conservatory 10 x 10 roughly. we live with the conservatory facing north. Could anyone please advise on heating for it bearing in mind we wish to use it all year round.
Also we was thinking of taking the patio door out so it is straight through from lounge, but are in two minds it will be too cold in winter or too expensive to run heating 24/7.
Any advise or tips would be gratefully recieved. many thanks in advance

Oh dear...the one redeeming feature of your conservatory is that your lounge will be warmer in the winter -but ONLY if you keep the patio door. The lounge will only be warmer if you can separate the two volumes of air. If funds allow you might put in french doors instead.

I don't know what to suggest for actual heating. Is the conservatory d/glazed? I also wonder if there is a south facing wall behind it that you could paint a pale colour to reflect light (and some heat) back into the conservatory?

you must remember that a conservatory, as the name suggests, is classed and designed as a temporary structure with a closing door required between it and the habitable accomodation, once this door is removed it becomes part of the house and has to conform to building regs, which conservatories dont.. just a freindly warning so you dont get caught out if you decide to move..
