Hi AlexC,
When you consider that a well maintained garden can add 10% to the value of a house, it must also be the case that a bad one can take 10% off as well.
On programmes such as property ladder they make it clear that you present a property to the widest possible market possible to get your top price - by having such a garden, you add value by the kudos of having a DG garden but then restrict how the property is aimed at - as I think a lot of his gardens take an awful lot of looking after... for instance how do you mow floating grass cubes?, hillocks? telly tubby mounds?...
I suppose that at the end of the day it is all a question of taste...
