What does everyone think of the Irish guys who includes art installations on people's patios!

Is that the guy who put that huge ball of concrete in somebody's back garden.

Sorry, but if he is, then he's not my cup of tea!

I love his ideas they really make a difference in a garden, they're all very modern and quite arty but they are striking and effective and something a little different other than a sandpit or a tiny garden shed!

I think some of his designs are weird - and not always to my taste - the strange thing is they seem to work, and I have not yet heard anyone complaining once the makeover has been completed.

Strange eh?

HE IS A BIT OTT BUT DOES CARE WHAT THE PEOPLE WHO OWN THW GARDEN WANT AS WELL.SOME OF HIS WORK IS VERY CREATIVE AND ALWAYS WORKS WELL IN THE GARDEN HE IS DESIGNING. BUT I'M NOT SURE ABOUT HIS PLANT PATIO SERIES,I'M NOT THAT KEEN ON IT.

The other thing he makes little mention of is requiring Planning Permission for his telly tubby inspired hills and caves - not to mention his walls and some of his buildings so if anyone is inspired please check with your Council before embarking on any such works...

I enjoy some of his works but I would like to see them revisited now they have been up a couple of years just to see how they have lasted...

Also be good to know if the neighbours complained and whether his designs would affect the sales of the houses. On the whole I really like his designs, they are so imaginative, but I can imagine that they wouldn't appeal to the broadest range of potential buyers as they are so individual.
Sometimes it seems a shame if the family have kids and there's no grass left for them to play on!

Hi AlexC,

When you consider that a well maintained garden can add 10% to the value of a house, it must also be the case that a bad one can take 10% off as well.

On programmes such as property ladder they make it clear that you present a property to the widest possible market possible to get your top price - by having such a garden, you add value by the kudos of having a DG garden but then restrict how the property is aimed at - as I think a lot of his gardens take an awful lot of looking after... for instance how do you mow floating grass cubes?, hillocks? telly tubby mounds?... Embarrassed

I suppose that at the end of the day it is all a question of taste...
