We all do it at this time of year - don't we?Mine is always the same - to lose weight..... Wink I will do it this year. Promise! I'm also going to stop worrying about things that happen that I have no control over. If they happen - they happen. What's everyone else going to do?

Hi Jill,
It seems we make the same resolutions as each other each year. I'm making headway with the latter, but oh dear! I dont think I have a hope of achieving the first, even though I'm more desperate to this year than any other. (Hope to go skinning dipping in June/July) Oh well, at least I should get the pool to myself. :0 Let me know how you get on.

Mine is to remain focussed and driven in everything I do, whether that's career-related or in my relationships. Smile

(I also resolve to take up French again, as a GCSE doesn't really help in the great scheme of things!)

Just remember to exercise moderately for 30 mins three or four times a week (enough to raise your heart rate and raise a sweat).

Blimey - it's like Weightwatchers here! :D But let us know how you get on - maybe we should start a thread under food to motivate each other. I say don't diet, just have less of the high fat stuff and drink loads of water, and make sure your food stays interesting or you'll reach for the choccie bars.

My resolutions are to go to the gym more often, stick to my yoga classes and learn a language. Nice ideas, anyway! :D

I must be the only one who is very overweight but am happy?... the only thing I am not happy about is the fact that the clothes I would like to wear are not made in my size... why do the clothes manufacturers think that just because you are larger than a size 20 or 22 that you automatically want to were polyester or jersey fabrics... and when you get to a size 30 the choise is Evans, Evans or Evans...

As for New Years resolutions - it wasn't really appropriate seeing the year I have just had. I am determined to sort out the gas fire in the living room and landscape the garden - money permitting.

I wish you good luck with your resolutions and remember to set small attainable targets before moving onto the next... that way you are more likely to succeed in the long term Smile

My resolution is to all the little jobs that will make the rooms I have so far decorated finished. We moved into our house a few months ago now and although I have decorated the three bedrooms, the bathroom and the kitchen, only my sons room is completed. I still have to paint the floor in my bedroom and put up the cast iron fireplace (once that has been painted!!!), finish painting the lampshade in the bathroom, make some kind of door cover for the cupboard under the sink, and finish the mosaic tiles around the top of the bath, and then I have to finish stencilling the mural in my daughters bedroom (I have been "doing" that for about two months now (the birds on it have no eyes or beaks!!!). Then of course there is the kitchen, which I painted dark blue (don't ask why :( ) but have now painted a sandy colour but the cupboard door handles need to be decorated and I need to make some transfers for the tiles. Then, once this is finally done I can get to work on the hallway and living room. .......But first I have to lose my addiction to the computer Wink so I guess that same time next year I can just re-post this message.

Not much help, but just stick with it, it will be worth it. I stopped eight years ago. Apart from making you feel better, think of all that lovely dosh you will save. Just done a quick calculation and I must of saved about 11,000. :D Wow! I want to know where it is. Smile

Hi Rach. I kept craving them until this year (and I gave up nearly five years ago!). But it has totally gone now and I'm not bothered about smoking ever again. Worth persisting - it's the single most important thing you can do for your health (but you already know this). I found that if you work at making the rest of your life healthy and happy, you'll be less inclined to reach for the fags. Reward yourself every month - or more regularly - for one packet of cigs you can have a delicious bought lunch, and don't give it all up if you have a drunken cigarette. Good luck and tell us how it's going! Smile

PS I found chewing gum really helped. And kept me minty fresh Wink
