I want to repaint the kitchen ceiling and have yellow water stains from a leak we had some time ago. Any ideas?

Also we had a candle burn out in a small room that left soot damage. I cleaned the walls but before I could get to the ceiling my partner painted over it and you guessed it the black is now seeping through. I’m sure I saw some were that you cover stains in PVA before painting would this work? I would be grateful for any ideas.

u can cover ur wall in pva before u paint it if that doesnt work then u can gloss the ceiling and the sooted area as well hope this helps
