Attaching a shower mixer valve to tiles

Please can you help?

We are attaching a mixer valve for a shower onto a tiles with a plasterboard backing. The supplied fitting thread has a barb finish. Will this be sufficient to anchor into the wall or should we fix a washer and nut on the other side?
