Hi
I have always had trouble getting my son who is now 12 months old to go to sleep and to stay asleep, i think he has only ever slept through once in the night since he was born. But now he is trying to eat his way out of his cot. It sounds stupid i know but i have had to stop the controlled crying thing and any kind of bedtime routine i am trying as if he doesn't want to sleep he pulls himself up and start chewing away at his cot rail while screaming. I cant leave him to cry as it is too dangerous and i am worried that he will hurt himself as he has a mouthfull of teeth and can seem to bite through anything.
He cant be hungry as he eats like a horse. Can anyone help me? Dont know what to do, hope he isnt going through terrible two's already. Eek Angry Confused

What a nightmare, my little one did a simular thing,

my advice would be,
Buy a nightlight one for the plug or a lamp,
Or leave a hall light on,
Try putting on a radio as well this might calm him,
Some people even put a telly in the bedroom and leave it on quietly.

When my boy did this, we brought him a travel cot for £65, there are some for £40. They are great he loved it and with the radio and nightlight he really calmed down. There was less worry on our behalf because when he did throw a wobbler there was no wood to bite through only padded bars. Needles to say he wasn't impressed but hey it nipped it in the bud. I swear by travel cots now and have brought my next one already as im due soon for my next. Never will i go back to bars after ive used mesh. I feel so much more confident now.

Hope this helps

Thank you very much for the advice.
It has really made a difference. I now religiously leave a night light on and play his bedtime nursery ryhmes every night, he has even slept through the night a few times. It still takes about 2 hours to settle him to sleep but i would rather have it like that instead of being up and down stairs every 10 mins all night. It is suprising what difference a little extra sleep can make, so i am now being able to enjoy my son even more.
Good luck with baby no.2 i bet you are so excited?
All the best and many thanks. Smile Big Grin Hug
