Hi Everyone

I am due to move in to my 1st flat & very excited.

Only thing that will need doing is the kitchen.I would love a newly fitted one but funds are tight !

SO, I thought of revamping the old ones with paint or spray or anything to make them look better !

Any ideas anyone ?

Thanks Big Grin

Hi,
I've just had exactly the same dilemma. We had an old butler sink in the utiltiy room that we moved into the kitchen and replaced the sink in there, bought a new tap for £100. Replaced the old, manky tops with a black granite worktop and limewashed the existing olive green cupboard doors with Antique Cream paint. Repainted the walls and changed the light fittings - looks like it cost a fortune now but didn't cost more than £500. Hope that gives you some ideas. Good luck

you can get some paint that you can roller onto the doors even if they're melamine (we did it with an old wardrobe and it worked great) & change the handles.
Check out ebay you can get taps for £20-£30 amongst other things.
Also try [link] it's a site where people give away unwanted items you can also put a wanted add in. Ikea have great items at really low prices.

Good luck Big Grin

on the kitchen cupboard painting...we are a farming family with a very tired wood (glossy) cabinet finish. Have been to various paint producers BUT can't find a TOUGH SCRUBABLE paint finish in a 'TEAL BLUE/GREEN' type colour. Our kichen has to be home to wet sheep dogs and sickly lambs so the paint job needs to be really hard wearing. Any recommendations out there? Confused

I too am having problems with kitchen doors and on a House Doctor programme Ann used a flexible laminate that came on a roll. Please can anyone help me locate stockists. I think it was called flexco flex. At the time it was £15.99 a roll.

Hi all
A quick suggestion is that although the suppliers might say you needen't sand, I would always advise that you give a light sanding in a criss cross meathod 1st as this gives a LOT more grip to the primer and paint.
Also, I would advise for a brilliantly smooth finish is to remove the doors and paint them on a horizontal surface and alow them to dry like that.
Remember to make a note of which doors came from where as the holes might be slightly different.
I would not recommend spraypaint though as the dry film layer is too thin and will scratch easily.

Rozii - what I would try for is a floor paint i the colour you want as these are designed to be tougher
Good Luck

Jentifer I have just seen the House Doctor program where she uses the flexible laminate to cover the doors. I also had struggled finding the material on google. The name of the product is Elesgo. So far I have only found a distributor in Germany www.laminate.de that describes the material. It seems other grades can also be used to cover flooring, worktops and furniture. I have bought something similar in that past from B&Q. Let me know if you find a good retailer that has it.

What I have also seen used is a very thin veneer. You can use pine and then 'wash' or stain it in a shade you would like. This would give you far more options as well as having a less bulky finish than vinyl.
