HELP!! I have a tiny lounge with oak stlye laminate flooring. I have a 66x54ish window which I need to dress! I like the idea of wooden venetian blinds but can't get one to match the colour of the flooring, even so I think they would make the room look too dark.
Any ideas? I've tried voiles but they all look naff (hate anything which resembles net curtains!) Mad

I know how you mean. Nets can make you feel a tad claustrophobic, but you could always try vertical blinds which you can tilt and even draw right back if you need more light Cool

Thanks for that. Yea I forgot to mention that was my Plan B. Do you think vertical blinds are a bit old hat now? Its just that everyone seems to have them and sometimes it makes you feel like your in an office! But it does look like I'll have to go that way... Wink

Hi Loopy,

At the top end of the market you could consider plantation shutters which, though expensive, look absolutely fantastic and are practical enough to make them worth every penny.

Otherwise, you might use frosting film on the glass which will let in the light without everyone being able to peep in - you can then dress the window with curtains to close in the evening. Another contemporary alternative is IKEA's curtain panels which are basically vertical sheets of fabric set into tracking for a clean, simple look.

Good luck with your decorating!

Plantation shutters? Isn't that from a previous life?
I like the IKEA idea.

Er, if you like. I have them in my living room (saved up for ages) and they look absolutely amazing! Do a Google search for some pictures and you'll see what I mean. Smile
