My 9mth old wont sleep a full night. He's up anything from 2-22 times a night i've tried controlled crying, musical light, keeping him up later than usual he's even been getting medised for teething just now which has a mild sedative which seems to help most babies to sleep better but not him Confused It all started when he was about 5mnths old and i'm at my wits end with him. He's a brilliant baby all day (even the squealing stage he's at just now is bearable Big Grin) What can i do to get a decent night's sleep? Please any help will be most gratefully received. Smile

Hi mammabear - have you tried bonjela? I tried it once when mine were small - it has a local analgesic action so good for sore gums -if you can figure out which bit is hurting!
We used clove oil, a traditional remedy which was stronger, but VERY effective in that it totally wiped out the pain and sent them to sleep after. I can't recommend it though, because having tried it first myself it does 'sting' and the baby needed firm hugging and cuddling for several minutes to get past this before the pain-relief took effect. As with everything, you would need to check with pharmacist first because clove oil can be dangerous.

On balance, dosing a baby with paracetamol (medised or otherwise) in case he is teething is not such a great idea -save it for when he has a fever.

Good luck with the teething, and if you'd like to post his go-to-bed and waking up times I'll try to work out a customised sleep pattern for you.

Hi thanks for the reply he's finally got his teeth through, but i found that if he has at least 1 hours sleep in the morning and in the afternoon he sleeps better at night. Smile
