Hello Everyone,
My name is Amanda Jayne Parr. I am a professional writer and I need your help on my next project.
As you may be aware, November 11 2008, marks the 90th anniversary of the end of WWI. To mark the event - and also as a tribute to all the brave men and women who fought or gave their lives so that we may all live freely - I am putting together a compilation of true stories.
These stories can be about you, or a relative or friend, who fought or served in WWI. They can be about a family who was left behind, while their sons or husbands or brothers went off to fight. They can be stories of heroism. They can be funny, sad, inspirational, emotional etc. In short, if you have a story about you or someone you know during WWI, so long as it is true and you have no problem with its possible publication, I would like to hear it.
If you would like to view some of my work, here are a few links.

Thank you for your time everyone, and if you would like to contact me, please feel free to leave a message for me either on here or on my myspace page.

My Uncle Bert Jennens at the age of about 16 yrs enlisted in the Warwicks and went off to France to find his Dad in France, this was unlikely as my granddad was in india. My Grandma who was a fearsome woman eventually found out from returning soldiers his unit and location and off to France she went, the first part of the trip she went with soldiers and at some stage got a London bus!! She found him undamaged apart from a bullet hole through his backpack, she thrashed him soundly in the trenches and dragged him back, I wish I had listened more closely!!

hello amanda, i have a story from ww1 about my great grandfather George marshall. He was born in plumstead east London in about 1878, he enlisted in the Kings own Lancashire regt sometime in 1914, where he served in France. he served at first in a labour battalion, but this troubled him, so he joined a front line battalion, and saw much action throughout France. He always said when told to look after himself, theres not a German alive that can kill me. These proved to be prophetic words, he died of influenza on the 18th november, 1918in a military hospital in Rouen, and is buried at St sever allied cemetary, I visited his grave a couple of years ago, which was quite emmotional for me.
