Prison Break on UKTV Gold?? Eh??!

Thread Starter: David R - UKTV    Started: Fri 14 Jul 2006    Replies: 31

UKTV Gold is diversifying as a channel - we're starting to show more contemporary shows like Prison Break [link] alongside all-time classic TV...

Hey, I think the programming is great - particularly Columbo and The Two Ronnies Sketchbook and ofcourse Prison Break. I never watch Five and so missed out on watching it the first time. I know some people are all for the tradition of the channel but I'm just glad Prison Break was repeated. Big Grin

I havent had time to read all of the posts here so forgive me if i am repeating anyone elses views, heres my two cents on the subject,Prison Break on UKTV Gold......Fantastic. I say this because i missed the showing first time round on CH5 and if there is something i want to watch i dont mind what channel its on,UKTV Gold have got it right, get a great tv show and the viewers will follow, its a business at the end of the day.Dont get me wrong i do love alot of shows on UKTV Gold and its great to see them expanding their portfolio even further and drawing a new audience group.
Something i love the sound of is the USTV branding which has been used during Prison Break, great to distinguish a segment on the channel but in my opinion even better as a UKTV spin off channel of its own. With content like prison break it could really give the big players i.e sky one,a real run for its money.
Finally i would just like to add that in my personal humble opinion UKTV Gold is just that, not UKTV old, gold does not say to me that the programmes have to be golden oldies, gold just highlights that it plays the best and at this moment in time, again im my opinion,Prison Break is one of the best shows currently airing.

As much as I like Prison Break I can't see anything Gold about it..

Why on earth is it on UKTVGold ?

if it was to be anywhere it should be on UKTVDrama as its a Prison Drama

It's great that UKGold has moved on a bit, it's great watching the old programs, but as regular tv shows repeat their shows about 3 times a week, it does get tedious when they are on all of their +1 and *name*2 and *name*3 type channels. I cannot get channel 5 so to have it on UK was really great. and it makes a change from nauseating mindless sitcom/romcom types and start showing something that requires an IQ over 90. I know for some people tv is escapism, but I like to be challenged. Prison Break is really good at continually changing the rules so by the end of each episode you don't quite know how the next one will sort it out. But if you must bring back some good tv, bring back some of the greats such as Green Claws! or Seaquest DSV! or Popular! some of these programmes weren't originally appreciated, but maybe now they would be!!

I don't mind what channel they put Prison Break on as long as it's one one of them and shown on the same day of the week at a regular time, which up to now it has been on UKTV gold. The series is fantastic and so are all the characters, Wentworth Miller is gorgeous which is just an added bonus!

I think people should just get on and enjoy the show whichever channel it's put on! Tongue

I love the output from uk gold, although it does get a bit annoying seeing the same episodes of classic comedies 20 times. The repeats of the A-team are great, as our many of your other programmes, I watch it more than terrestial tv.
Prison break is absolutely brillant, I can not get enough of it and watch the episodes on sunday and when they are repeated in the week. I czn not believe that so many viewers have expressed their dislike of it, but UK Gold's programming does cater for a wide range of tastes so I am sure 6 hours a week of programmes can be tolerated, after all this is top notch television and a real coup for uk gold.

should have been put on UKTV Drama, and put gold on UKTV Gold it's not hard is it. THey are losing the plot too many channels and not the right programmes on the right channels. Oh and bring back UK Play.

Have you actually seen it though? It's actually very good - unlike the Goodies. Which is actually very very very bad.

I think it's great that you're bringing this show - I missed it on Channel 5 and thought I'd have to wait another year before someone else showed it. Thanks also for clarifying the show schedule in an earlier post - at least I know I won't miss any episode now

Ah, I had an idea that SusenUKTV (couldn't even spell correctly the name she made up) may have been a fake. I got suspicious when she posted that comment that UKTV would be showing something worth watching.

Oh well, we were all duped.

Anyway, i'm off now permanently as far as the message board is concerned, and as far as UKTV is concerned. All seems a complete waste of time. You other guys should stop bashing your heads against a wall.

Hi Gaz - no it isn't true. Unfortunately "susenUKTV" was a another website user (already registered on our site) who created another log in name with UKTV in the title to make it seem like she (actually he) was working for us. "SusenUKTV" then posted a few answers to queries, apparently with the intention of winding up other website users.

Sorry for the confusion - we've made sure it won't happen again.

Appreciate your questions about specific programmes but I don't think the schedulers will have time to answer any more queries for the time being - soz!

cheers

David
