each to their own opinions of the flying doctors but it was a series not a soap soaps are shown continuosly five days a week of four, flying docs was only on once a week way back in the 80s to early 90s i think their or more fans of this show than some people think like i say each to their own opinions but i prefer aussie series to uk ones at the minute .

Utter rubbish this programme was only good enough for the Australian audience 12 million veiwers, it must have been for the whole 221 episodes.

they usually show kath and kim on ftn from time to time. but why should they change the habits of a lifetime and keep showing us stuff that we have seen umpteen times before particularly with the rubbish being shown at weekends in the form of crime saturday/sunday showing the stuff thats on uk drama during the week. what it the point in having 2 separate channels?. come on uk gold listen to what your viewers want and all we get are endless repeats of rubbish and things that only people in a coma would be interested in. i would like to see bread moved back to gold and how about the classic comedy "watching"?

just to inform everyone doctors returns to bbc1 on september the 4th 2006 . so its not been taken off the air its coming back for a new series and i think maybe a few new cast members however i was shocked when christopher timothy left the show that meant theres no original characters in it now but im sure the show will do well pity they could not move the time slot to 7pm give emmerdale a bit of competition Big Grin

I would love to have an australian channel, I think that would be great. I especially would like to see Flying Docs, Country Practice and definitely old episodes of Home & Away! I think they show too much of My Family, Only Fools & Horses and Catherine Tate now. Confused

there were rumours that there was going to be a channel dedicated to australian programmes about 18 mnths ago but nothing seems to have come of it. why can't uk gold get rid of the rites to some of the rubbish that is constantly being shown and get this show back no matter what time of day its on.

hi i have a suggestion for uk gold tv programmers why cant we have a channel dedicated to purely australian drama or uk serials like the flying doctors , a country practice, sons and daughters neighbours , young doctors , the sullivans and home and away all of these are hugely popular now still or just a purely for soaps channel could include english soaps too would make more room on uk gold for more classics if serials had their own channel dont you think .

Cool hi 221 episodes of flying doctors was made (before the mini series took over utter rubbish it was too ) it was really a australian drama serial not a soap but hads loads of fans all over england ireland scotland wales and the netherlands pulled in around 12 million viewers at its peak in 1989 my only real complain was how come it was shown at 6 in the morning not all viewers got up that early in the morning good time for most would have been 2.30 in the afternoon or 7 at night when all workers got home . i managed to tape loads of episodes but some are so warn out now would be nice if uk gold could bring it back on tv i know its not to everyones taste but it would beat some of the shows on gold now hands down for viewers . also here would be nice once in a while if someone from uk gold itself responded to this dont you think . be it uk drama or gold it deserves another showing dont you think . by the way bbcs doctors show returns in september for a new series so its not been dumped just revamped with some new cast members .

I totally agree, it has been too long since this superb show was aired on british tv. Please UKTV re show the complete series' from the beginning on one of your channels,UKTV Gold or UKTV Drama, even if it is during the night, after all it was a piece of golden drama. Smile

Flying doctors was rubbish on television why on earth would uk gold consider showing this rubbish. It was a soap.

Doctors was a soap but the flying doctors wasn't in my opinion. The same episodes of doctors were being shown all the time but the BBC only every showed the flying doctors series just the once back in the early 90s. Come on UK gold get rid of some of the rubbish (dad's army, Dr who, the good life, murder she wrote etc) that is being constantly repeated and obtain the rites of other shows that people want to watch

I too would love to see this again, but as I say every time I post on these boards "I won't hold my breath waiting".

Definitely time they got the finger out and gave us some of the good older programmes.

Wink come on uk gold you never replyed to our questions whats the chance of you showing the flying doctors series from the very beginning again i believe when it was shown the first time it had a regular audience even when it was moved to 6.am in the morning fi your not going to show it what happened to all the tapes of the show you had do they get sent back to the makers or are they thrown out . theres a huge demand for this show on dvd and video so they must be lot of folks out here who would love to see it shown again on uk for one last time .
