Hi from the U.S.....Have read many of the Inspector Lynley books, but have recently began watching the Inspector Lynley Mysteries on our Public Broadcasting System. Tonight, I watched, "In the Blink of an Eye," where Helen was shot and killed by a girl from Bosnia. I know from having read, "With No One as Witness," that Helen was killed by a boy on her front stoop. Or did I dream all this?? Can someone set me straight as to how Helen dies? Is the TV series different from the book series? Thanks very much for any info!

Hi, i can't help with the book as i haven't read any of them, but i do remember in the series, Helen is killed by mistake, by a Bosnian woman she was trying to help. The final two episodes were supposed to broadcast here a few weeks ago, but were postponed to a later time and there hasn't been any info as to when they will be shown. The BBc in it's 'wisdom' has decided it won't be making any more of the Lynley series, i hope it's picked up by a different channel.

Hi Annie, no you didn't dream it!

In "With No-One As Witness", Helen was coming home from a shopping trip with Debs and these kids turned up out of the blue and shot her dead, for no reason.

I suppose because Helen had died in the books, the BBC had to kill her off in the series as well, though I'm not sure they did a very good job of it. It's a shame they're killing off the series as well now, especially as Nat Parker and Sharon Small are terrific actors and the writing recently has been rotten.

Loved the earlier series' much more!
