I added a topic last week, but it seems to have dissapeared! I wrote to say that my son was chosen to be a tour guide on HMS Victory Portsmouth, as Admiral Nelson was his hero. This was in 1983 when he was 8. We had great day out in Portsmouth and again in London at the studio, but unfortunately at the last moment we got a call to say that it wouldnt be shown. After a lot of tears and dissapointment we were sent a video of the scene, which we still have. The school very kindly showed it in assembly, so his friends could see that he was telling the truth.! To add insult to injury, his little sister took his precious badge out and lost it. It has given us plenty to talk about over the years and is the family claim to fame. I remember that the episode involved a girl wanting to pop out of a cuckoo clock, two ladies who wanted to fly in a small plane and a child who wanted to meet Orville the duck. I recall also something about skiing on that episode but I have forgotten what happened in that scene. Wink

Confused In 1982 my son Christopher Attwood sent a letter to Jim and asked to be a tour guide on HMS Victory in Portsmouth dockyard. He was contacte by Amanda, the researcher and it sure enough was fixed for him at the beginning of August 1983. We then came to London the following year and he met Jim, was filmed in the studio and received his badge. He told all of his friends and relatives, but it was never shown, much to our upset and dissapointment. The school helped out by showing the video in assembly. but he was the subject of a lot of teasing at the time. To add insult to injury, his little sister took the badge out and lost it! We have never forgotten it, but even the captain of the ship who appeared with him couldnt understand what went wrong. Many a tear was shed. It would be great to see it on TV at last. Ms J WILDS.... THen Mrs.J. GRaham Wink
