Well quite. Thanks for the apology David, but I'm sure there wasn't any announcement that it wouldn't be repeated on a Sunday. The episode that we've missed was a particularly special one, celebrating the 100th show. Is there absolutely no chance of putting this on at some point in the future - perhaps at the end of the current series? I realise you've not exactly been drowned in complaints but I'm sure other viewers will have been put out by the sudden and announced dropping of the Sunday repeat.

And for Tootsie...I mean...Ghostbusters I could have understood.

Another very disappointed viewer here!

I really do think an effort should be made to repeat this episode.

Why on earth dump the show at this point, and for a film that has been repeated countless times on other channels?

Ohhh, OK then. Thanks David. I must admit I assumed the TV guide I use had got the listing wrong when it said it was a different episode on in the later slot until I went to watch the recording and found it was indeed the one they'd said. Never mind, I'm sure I'll get a chance to see the episode I missed another time. Smile

Is there any rhyme or reason to the broadcasting of episodes on UKTV Drama? Currently series 4 is being shown at 9 pm, yet series 3 at 12.45 (ish) slot. In a couple of weeks time both slots will be showing series 4 but that means those of us who find the 12.45 slot better for whatever reason have missed out on episodes.

I've seen others complaining about this type of thing on other dramas. What do you do over there? Just grab a video out of big pile and hope for the best? Confused Wink

Thanks for the reply, David, I did wonder it there was something contentious in the story.

Unfortunately, p.murray (for us!) I suppose that means it might not even appear on the DVD.

Wonder if it's contentious as far as another author is concerned or on the grounds of a real life case?

Ooh ooh oooh, spiral! I put in a message asking for this to be repeated too. Smile

I really enjoyed Eureka Street. I read the book afterwards and it's one of my favourite books too. Wonderfully written characters and beautiful touches of humour.

I agree, brainyone. I thought David Tennant would make a great Doctor (I hope he still will) but the second series (or whichever number it is if you count from the real first series!) was a bit of a let down in the end for me.

Christopher Eccleston certainly played The Doctor with more depth and drama.

Hello

I've been doing a bit of investigating and I think I've found an answer for you! Smile

The name of the actress in the episode of "As Time Goes By" is Jean Warren. I found this site all about ATGB and it has a detailed episode breakdown [link]

As far as I can find out from the IMDb, the acress who played Simone in "May to December" is Carolyn Pickles. There's more information about other shows she's been in here [link]

Hope this helps.

I wish I could get paid for doing this, it's much more fun that my real job! Smile

Thought I'd resurrent this thread as it echoes my thoughts.

Really, things like Last of the Summer Wine, etc have no place - as far as I'm concerned - on a channel that is supposedly dedicated to drama. They're surely no more than time fillers or, as Livewire said, as excuse to rotate these programmes between the other UKTV channels.

I feel the same way about the Blair Witch Project - admittedly the end scene played on my mind for a while aftewards but generally I sat there wondering why they were getting so hysterical. I really wanted it to live up to the hype but it didn't - well, not for me anyway.

Anyway, veering wildly back on topic. I heard a little while ago that Christopher Eccleston might be starring in a remake of The Prisoner. Now that could be interesting.

Agree about Ewan and I see your point about Stephens' transition. Maybe they were limited by a low budget, time constraints etc. Hey I'm trying to be kind, it doesn't happen often.

I've not seen Love Actually but I thought he was great in Still Crazy where he played...an ageing rock star. Smile

It's a really entertaining film and well worth a look - crops up on BBC1 every now and then.

Bill's an actor who's really grown on me over the years. I found him a bit creepy when I was in my early 20s - I vaguely remember The Men's Room and remember I just couldn't take to him in it - but over the years watching him in other things and in interviews where he comes across well I've really changed my opinion.

I'd like to suggest Our Mutual Friend and Dracula (BBC 1977 version).

I rewatched Shallow Grave last year and must admit it didn't live up to my memories of it, but it was Ewan McGregor who I thought seemed a bit wooden. That said, I still really enjoyed it and I think the end is great.

So David, you think living in an attic and drilling holes in the floor to spy on your pals is just a bit iffy? Wink

Hey you're strict on swearing here aren't you, I only said CE was d-a-m-n sexy as Doctor Who! Smile

No, it's not the same at all reading the synopsis. Smile

I just wondered whether it was anything to do with the fact the story was about children being kidnapped. Still, there have been some equally sensitive subjects dealt with through the series.

Good idea to ask them direct - hope you get an answer!

It'd be great to see two of my favourite BBC2 dramas Eureka Street and Die Kinder (as in the German for 'the children'!) again.

The first thing I saw John Simm in was Men of the World, which was one of the better BBC sitcoms. The first serious thing I watched him was Crime & Punishment and he was really excellent in it. I was really pleased to see him in Life on Mars, which is a terrific series and I can't imagine anyone playing the part of Sam better than him. A perfect piece of casting.

I learnt my lesson the first time I recorded late night/early morning broadcast of Waking the Dead. I missed the last 10 minutes or so of the episode. Now I make sure I set the video to recorded a good 10 or 15 minutes later that it says it'll finish.

I'm afraid I don't know much about Sky+. Is it not possible to alter the times to record a little longer? I agree it's really frustrating to lose the end of a programme.

He's pretty much superb in everything, thoug I really enjoyed his performances in Cracker and The Second Coming. He was xxxx sexy as Doctor Who, too.

Hmm, OK, I thought I 'd replied to this but it seems not.

Anyway, what I said was it was my first post and this was the very question I wanted to ask.

Looking at Digiguide it seems Fugue States is being passed over on UKTV Drama (although admittedly they don't always show episodes in the correct order). The Digiguide listing shows the series jumping from False Flag to Anger Management.

I wonder if there's something contentious or particularly sensitve about the story of Fugue States. There must be a reason for it not being shown - unless the BBC has lost it. Wink
