Hey everybody; i'm new here, so sorry if i'm a little slow, but will get used it,
I would like to express my disgust on the way you treated the final scene of the last blackadder goes forth, there was abloustely no need to promote new programming or what was coming up next by squeezing the picture to the side & talking over it, specially at one of the most moving & memorable scenes in television history when it does not need any words to spoil the action,
I hope that if you repeat this episode, it doesn't get spolied again; I don't want my viewing to be spoiled
many regards
Wills

Hi Wills,
I couldn't agree more! One of the most moving ends to a comedy series ever, so skillfully written and acted and yet so thoughtlessly discared.
Shame on you UKTV Gold.
I think the phrase phrase rhymes with "Clucking Bell"

I was completely appalled by the insensitive chopping of what is to some of us a brief reminder of the horrors of the first world war.
In an age where such atrocities are forgotten by the lack of teaching in schools such fantastic interpretations are rarely covered in popular programming.
Shame on you and if I ever see this repeated I will take great joy in cancelling my subscription.

The voice-overs over credits on UK Gold are merely irritating most of the time, but to have some bloke yacking on about the next programme over the final seconds of the final episode of Black Adder Goes Forth was galling in the extreme. What a joke.

This practice of squeezing out pictures is highly annoying all of the time, especially when you want to view something in the credits. However, doing so on this instance of Blackadder Goes Forth, together with a voice-over, just goes to show how stupid, and often arrogant, the people that are employed by TV companies, UKTV Gold being no exception, are.
I await for a response on here from UKTV management, but will not hold my breath waiting.

DITTO DITTO DITTO
I think this must be the first time I've ever posted something on a blog because I don't think there's ever been anything worth voicing my opinion on but what UKTV GOLD pulled off the other night in the last episode can only be described as disgraceful.
Having not seen this series for quite a while, we've been tuning in day after day watching what will go down as one of the best series ever in British comedy. Blackadder's attempt to escape the trenches and the final push is what this whole series is based on.....all leading to quite an emotional ending that someone in UKTV GOLD obviously couldn't care less about.
In the future if you could try and take your paying viewers interests into consideration it would be most appreciated. Needless to say, there's not a chance I'll be tuning in to the program advertised that destroyed several weeks of happy viewing.

Thanks to everyone who has backed me up on this, most of the points you have made I couldn't agree more with & even though it was the other night, i'm still feeling abloustely livid about how UK Gold screwed the ending up
this has certainly made me consider not watching the channel again; in fact i've not been watching it since the fisasco, just can't see the point if viewer's enjoyable is going to be spoiled & also if a sensitive issue like the ending of blackadder is going to be horribly mistreated
thanks again to everyone & keep the comments coming in

A couple of days ago I used the contact us page to log my complaint about this very thing, together with my annoyance at all the ridiculous cutting and censoring of various shows, and also asked whether they care about their viewers any more.
I've had no reply, so I guess that answers the question.

It sure does,
It also confirms what I've said about the arrogance of decision makers in the TV industry thinking they know best and will not be told otherwise. Hardly anyone likes background music, there are continually lots of complaints about it, especially from people with hearing problems. Yet they just continue indulging themselves. It's the same with this. They found a fancy effect to play with and will not be moved, no matter what.
I remember years ago Janet Street Porter being criticized by an audience about her presentation style when she was running "Yoof" programming. She insisted "This is what they want", yet hardly anyone was watching her stuff.
So don't you dare forget: they have a university education and know better than us.
