I was on Jim'll Fix It when I was 5 or 6 in 1985 or 86 - he fixed it for my cat oliver to be "made into a superstar" (I think it was my mum's idea!!) Mum gave me a bowl haircut and popped me in a lovely silver smock for the occasion, which matched Jim's silver sofa supurbly! I giggled the whole way through! It was a fantastic experience although I have had to grimace my way through many a replay for the family (however I am now immune to how embarrassing it was!!)

Jimmy came to my house for dinner when I was about six. He was staying in Aylesbury while they were building Stoke Mandeville Spinal Unit - he donated loads of money to it.

Anyway, my Dad was one of the hospital managers, so they had been working together quite alot and I guess they became friends for a while.

I remember he was at my house for my sisters birthday as well and was signing loads of paper plates for all the kids to take away.

He never did fix anything for us, but he gave us all "Jim fixed it for me" red jumpers with our names on the back.

I am pleased to see that Craft's post has been changed.

Yes, Roger is a thoroughly nice man - one of the true gentlemen. He has spoken a couple of times at my Rotary Club and has a great number of very funny stories.

Roger Ordish was Doctor Magic! I met him when my son was on the programme. Nice bloke.

I've just seen the following in a message from "Craft":

"I believe the producer/director was Roger Ordish who I know sadly passed away not too long after Sally-Annes' fix it was televised."

This is not true!

Roger Ordish (who is/was the producer on Jimmy'll Fix It) is very much alive and kicking. As a friend of mine I see him every week!!

I added a topic last week, but it seems to have dissapeared! I wrote to say that my son was chosen to be a tour guide on HMS Victory Portsmouth, as Admiral Nelson was his hero. This was in 1983 when he was 8. We had great day out in Portsmouth and again in London at the studio, but unfortunately at the last moment we got a call to say that it wouldnt be shown. After a lot of tears and dissapointment we were sent a video of the scene, which we still have. The school very kindly showed it in assembly, so his friends could see that he was telling the truth.! To add insult to injury, his little sister took his precious badge out and lost it. It has given us plenty to talk about over the years and is the family claim to fame. I remember that the episode involved a girl wanting to pop out of a cuckoo clock, two ladies who wanted to fly in a small plane and a child who wanted to meet Orville the duck. I recall also something about skiing on that episode but I have forgotten what happened in that scene. Wink

I was the Butler on Jim'll Fix it, shown on 8th January 1980, and thereafter incorporated into the signature tune for a year or so..."If you wanna work in a big stately home"...etc etc!!)
I was the most famous kid in school for ages after my fix-it and even got an article in the Jim'll Fix album too!! It was a great experience and Joe Fobbester, the real butler for the Marquis of Hertford became a great friend of our family until we sadly lost him some years ago.
My 2 year old son loves watching the video that a friend of ours made of the show...it makes me feel really old but immensely proud to have been part of such a legendry show. Good luck to Sir Jim and the rest of the crew with the new show.

My folks wrote to Jim way back in the late 70's, originally for my sister to play basketball with the Harlem Globetrotters. Like many, we never thought we would hear back. Then one night, we received a phone call from the BBC, asking if my folks had a son, as "they" would prefer a boy to take part, so I became the chosen one. We had a lovely day filming at Wembly Arena with being shown what happens behind the scenes. The actual even was brilliant with the Harlem Globetrotters playing an ALL STAR TEAM made up of the then "top tv stars", which we shared their dressing room with. Sadly the Harlem Globetrotters never gave me anything in the way of a gift, which we thought was a bit mean of them.

I would love to know if I could get a copy of the actual filming of the day and the TV show.

Jum fixed it for me to tread grapes when I was 14 years old. The researcher took me all the way to Portugal by myself where I spent 4 days having the time of my life! Not only did I get to tread the grapes to make port but sailed a boat down the Douro, watched barrels being made, eat with a Portugese mayor and drant some 1825 vintage priceless port! I got another trip to London for the voice over and when we filmed the studio part it was a dream come true - lunch in the BBC canteen surrounded by loads of TV heros! I was given a case of vintage 77 port, and in 1997 we drank one bottle at my wedding, the other bottle is still stored safely. I have my Jim'll Fix it bade framed and in pride of place. I'm so glad the show is back on TV - well done Jim!

I was on the first show in the new series, dancing with Ian Waite. It was recorded at BBC centre back in Dec in front of the studio audience and judges and it was the most amazing and terrifying experience of my life. I was filmed for practically 9 hours and it was condensed down to about 5 minutes. I would have loved some extra footage of the day, especially the whole of the dance routine! Ian is such a lovely man and everyone behind the scenes at BBC were so kind to me, I wish I'd got the chance to thank them all when I filmed the badge receiving show with Sir Jim. Jimmy is such a gent and such a character. It was an honour to have met him and to have been part of such an iconic show. Thanks to everyone involved Wink

Jim fixed it for me to become a Southampton Football Club Mascot for the day. Shown on TV in Feb 1980 when I was 10 years old. - 26 years later I still go down to watch the footie. I had a fab time. I can remember as it was also my first visit to London to recieve my Jim'll Fix It badge, which still takes pride of place in a frame in the loft !!! After a few bottles of wine we often get the video out and watch the episode!! My son who is 8 yrs old thinks it is fantastic. My dream now would be to ask Jim to fix it for my son to run out onto the pitch with the Saints Team, I would watch from the side lines!!!. Roll Eyes Big Grin Big Grin Thanks Jim

I went on Jim'll Fix It when I was 12, some 32 years ago. I was a drum major of a marching band and asked Jim to let me and my band do a routine in the studio. I remember the day as if it was yesterday, and met Guys and Dolls and Peter Cushing who were also on the show that day. Unfortunately I only have a scrappy cine copy which was taken of my TV when it was televised. I would love to have a good copy to show my family who still don't believe I ever went on the show. Wink

I went to see Pinocchio at a local theatre when I was young (can’t remember my age then) and my mother wrote in to Jim for me to experience puppeteering. However I didn't realise that I was going experience it to such a degree. Jim fixed it for me to be a puppet on his show, I was literally strung up and acted out a pantomime scene with a full size Punch puppet. It was a fantastic even though a little overwhelming experience. It would be great to meet the puppeteers that assist the creation of the event again. Thanks Jim!! Smile

Sally-Anne was six years old, when she wrote to Jim'll fix it to see the film Tommy whch was very popular at the time. She was lucky enough to get chosen and was on one of the shows . It was a very long time ago she is 39 this year I would love to surprise her to do the same thing all over again only this time be spoilt and actually see the film in a westend cinema. She was too young the last time but she was very lucky to meet Roger Daltrey at his Home and The producer/director mixed the Tommy film with Sally-Anne and Roger Daltrey running through the surf, from the film, it was great. I believe the producer/director was Roger Ordish. I hope this letter jogs a few memories Many thanks Jennie (Sally-Annes' mum)

I was on Jim'll fix it in 1980 (i think!!) I danced "The Dying Swan". I was only 4 at the time!! I had the most amazing time ever and my brothers got to be on the beanbags at the end of the show, sticking their thumbs up!! That in itself would be very funny to see again, seeing as they are now all 34-40!!
Jim was so kind and his chair was very cool. Jim might remember me writing "p.s. my grandads called Jim", at the bottom of my letter. I think that might have swung it for me a little bit though!! My maiden name was Holder.

My son was on Jim'll fix it when he was ten years old, he is 32 and a dad himself. It was funny because he posted his request to Yorkshire Television! They kindly sent it on to Jim who arranged his 'Fix It'
My son said something like "Please can you fix it for me to get muddy and dirty before I grow up'. It was hilarious as, looking back on the old tape, you have never seen such a well scrubbed boy. He looked like Little Lord Fauntleroy.
The muddy hole which Jim threw him in was so heavy that he thought the weight was going to drag his trousers down and he always felt that he did not wallow in it enough! We think that the Jim'll Fix It badge was the only one that Jim ever gave out on the end of a stick.......and yes....he has been getting stick ever since. No one ever forgets!
Terry became a car mechanic so he did get dirty in the end. I am sure he would love to re-live the moment Tongue

Jim fixed it for me to climb a wall with Spiderman - it was the most expensive Fix it ever, i was 6 and the production inspired me to work in television and now I make Documentaries for Nat Geo and Animal Planet ect.

Garrywat - when we were looking into recreating the Cub Scout Fix It, the company that made the show for us tried to track down as many of the original scouts as possible. Unfortunately some, like yourself, must have slipped through the net. Sorry about that. I'll pass your suggestion on about recreating the recreation!

I was one of the Cub Scouts that every knows about but I was never on the remake 27 years later. I emailed differant places months ago to let them know I would be available but I never heard a thing Frown untill it was broadcast on UKTV Gold. I was gutted and not very happy about itCry, and to see them get a badge each (I we never got one in 1980) made me even more unhappy. My dream Fix It would be for the makers of Strike it Again to have ALL the Cub Scouts and give us all a bagde. Wink Tongue
