Moving soon into rented property. Limited by contract on major changes. Need help! Heres the status of each room , any ideas appreciated! ( cheap and easily rectifiable when we move out)
Living Room: Want to centre around our Persian Rug and the Persian feel with dark reds and crimsons.
Kitchen : consist of 80's white cupboards and horrible grimy lino that needs updated.
Bathroom: Gray suite, white tiling ( need painted!) and nasty shower curtain.
Main Room: open to ideas. nothing too screaming or zesty , and no pinks!
2nd room: this will be small home/office as I work from home. Also will have sofa bed for guests. Currently a light yellow pleasnt coulour. The key here is space , storage, practicality and pleasantry as I spend 8 hours a day in this room.
Hall: Well not got any budget left I imagine. But what about those shoes and coats that clutter the hallway?!

Answers on a postcard!

What about some attractive mirrors that don't require nailing things into the wall? Go for full-length ones, with either jewelled or mosaic edging. Cool cushions and poofs (foot rests -- I can't think of their proper name!) can also brighten up a room. And last but by no means least: the throw. Predictable, but a surefire way to changing the look of a room in an instant. :p

Hi inferior designs! You're really lucky having the freedom to do so much, normally rented accommodations won't allow you to anything (unless you want it knocked off the deposit)

Living room: get some crimson silk and use them as drapes for the curtains....(you can get a silk version which is a lot cheaper)these would be nice to keep for other things if you move out.
Kitchen: sounds like my kitchen to a T. I've put in some herbs which are growing on my windowsill and a few pictures and ornaments not much else you can do with the floor or white cupboards (except puting some stencils on them?)
Whats the difference between the main room and the living room?
The office: yellow and blue is pretty, you can get some great storage boxes (and the rest) from a great company (not sure where you live) on the Kings Road london called (unorigionally)The storage company!
Hall: like the advice someone gave me the other day buy a cheap wooden chest for clutter.

Not sure if any of that has inspired you :D
Hope so, Good luck

I lived in Council accomodation for years before I got a place of my own.

1. Lino clean it carefully mark up with squares and then paint it... you can also paint the cabinets...

2. My bathroom has a grey suit which is complimented with a mirror with the frame painted black... you could also then paint the tiles black and colour the grout - it does look very chique...

3. Living room be careful with reds and crimsons as it can make a room very dark... unless the room has very good lit stick to sandy colours on the wall and sumptuous floor cushions - splash out on the fabrics as you can take them with you...
