>RIP Ground Force
Farewell Ground Force. Today the BBC has declared that the curtain will fall at the end of this series. Please feel free to leave your condolences here.
Sob...
UKTV Style Gardens Team
why have the bbc got to give one of the most popular shows the chop?i am a big fan of ground force & never miss it,when i saw the news on the front page of the "sun" this morning,i was gutted.so please bbc have a change of heart.i will miss all the team but especially tommy,so if tommy happens to read this good luck in future ventures & hope to see you on tv again soon,i`m your biggest fan.
Why ? Why does Ground Force have to go?. I have watched every one of the programmes and love it.. It is a feel good programme and I always feel sunny and happy after watching it.. I suppose the BEEB are closing it down so we can be even more depressed watching rubbish like Deadenders !
Ground Force inspired my husband & I to begin our own gardening business which is now flourishing. Thank You Ground Force you will be missed, nothing else on BBC worth watching
It seems to me that the TV companies are set on change for the sake of it. When you have a winning formula why change it? Admittedly we miss the wry comments of Mr. Titchmarsh but we love the rest of the team and Mondays will never be the same.
one programme you can enjoy, which is refreshing and inspirational , taking it off to leave us with the remaining progs which are dross. think again you lot at the beeb ! farewell to the team who have given us so much entertainment
Ludicrous! have they gone mad or what.
one of the best t.v. programs on and they are ditching it, not fair on all us fans, its such a happy go lucky programe with lots of usefull ideas.
I can't believe Ground Force is ending - it is the most entertaining, inspirational gardening programme on tv. I have probably seen every episode and will really miss it. I think it is a shame to lose such a great programme!
Ground Force is the show that got me into gardening. Its entertaining and inspirational. I cant understand why the BBC would end a show that people still enjoy. My husband and I can watch the reruns over and over. Seems like telly is going down hill with the demise of shows like this.
Groundforce is one of those programmes you can watch over and over and still be inspired. I cant imagine why the BBC would can it.
:I just feel gutted. This is the end for one of the best programmes ever? It is a most watchable show, and all I can do is look forward to the repeats, they will never die.
Goodbye to a faithful old friend.

Unfortunately I think Ground Force is past it's sell by date. I used to be a huge fan when Alan was with them but it went down hill when he left.
What we need is a brand new, exciting gardening programme, any ideas?

I felt very sad when I heard this news. Ground Force is a great programme. All the presenters are fab - with great personalities - and they will all be missed. I just don't understand why the BBC would axe such a great programme - and yet leave us with stupid soaps. Come on BBC - don't let us down - re-think this decision. Long live the Ground Force team!!
- This is just another case of the beeb gone mad - they keepflogging that deadhorse - pantsenders - and ditch one of its best - and when checking my bills I discovered the TV Licence has gone up £20 in 6 years - what am I paying for??? - before you know it they'll be after gardeners World
It just goes to show the BBC haven't really watched their own programmes such as Ground Force or they wouldn't be so stuck in the mud!!
I have watched every episode of this programme over & over again on UKTV Style / Bright Ideas etc whenver they've been on. As they're supposedly offering us more cultural programmes & politics, and less repeats. Why then do they keep repeating the storylines & characters in MindBenders? First Sharon left, came back, then Peggy, then Den got killed, then miraculously did a Bobby Ewing and came back, and got killed again (reincarnation hasn't been featured in a soap before, I suppose, has it?). Now I hear Kathy Beale, Peggy & Grant & Phil are coming back? Deadenders is more like 'Groundhog Day' every week! I only watch it once a year (if that) and I can tell the plot and forecast the rest of the year in one episode.
Who wants to be bored with 'topical' programmes & politics? I want to watch something to take my mind off everyday life, I want to be entertained. So I throw the gauntlet down to ITV - buy up Ground Force & you'll be onto a winner!

why get rid of a programme that so many people love we may have been disappointed when allen left but the programme is still well loved even my children love to watch it i think the beeb ought to be looking at getting rid of something else

I am at a loss to the BBC's reasoning. They cancel a programme our beloved Ground Force which is watched and adored by many, many people and which has given much inspiration to gardeners the world over and pay a convicted felon a fee for an interview about his crimes. Did they ever think to ask the people who pay the much hated licence fee our oppinions on these matters? of course not THEY KNOW BEST WHAT WE WHAT TO WATCH - NOT!!!!!

Is this BBC decision or have the presenters had enough?
Get them to take a holiday and comeback with another series.
Also can they revisit more homes and sites
I hope they change their mind on this..one of my fav programmes..
Darling Buds of May never repeated. Why? No violence? Groundforce - to be cut. Why? No violence, too homely too nice? BBC why why why? People like us enjoy the programme.
I think ground force has lost its way. Alan Titmarsh was a big loss because of the banter between Tommy,Charlie and Alan was entertaining. Today the BBC seems to waste money sending the team all round the globe. The information regarding planting in these episodes is usually totally worthless to UK gardeners. What grows in these warmer climes wont survive here. They seem to have forgotten its a UK gardening show. Also once you've seen a garden deck you've seen them all. I say revamp the show with more emphasis on planting with regards to the UK climate only.
Ground Force is the only gardening programme that relates to MOST viewers. We don't all have 20 acres of garden, we don't all have a blank canvas of land that a "designer" can ponce around in and we don't all have a bottomless bank account. Ground Force gave us all ideas that we could use in our own meagre plots. Advice to all: get cable or SKY - far better value than the BBC licence. Ground Force is shown regularly on UKTV. I never get tired of seeing it, sometimes for the 3rd or 4th time.
Hopefully, the talents of Alan, Charlie, Tommy, Willy & Kirsty will soon be seen on other programmes - preferably all together. A brilliant team - good luck.
This is just typical of the BBC, just when everyone is settling down in front of their TV to watch an inspiring 1/2 hour of gardening delights, some bright spark decides that we are all too happy and content and we are subjected to the most boring and mind numbing rubbish that makes us lose the will to live. IF IT ISN'T BROKEN DONT FIX IT! Note that the licence fee is for the BBC channels only.
I will admit Ground Force was a good programme to watch when Alan was the host , BUT it has gone right down hill since he left. Tommy just doesn't do the show justice. I used to watch it all the time when Alan was presenting the show but have only watched one programme since Tommy has. Maybe that is why it has to be dropped, not enought people like Tommy. You must admit it is shabby and not as much fun! I think if they could get Alan back then the show would go up in ratings. Its obviously dropped in ratings since he left. Therefore they need to drop it.
this is probley one of the most best garden programmes ever made and the bbc want to scrap it well i hope they have got some good to replace it with cause you cant beat a bit of tommy and charlie on a monday night. all i can says is you thinks you got no rating now no boby will be switch on to the bbc soon it will be complete rubish good luck charlie and tommy and the rest of the gang you have alot of fans wish you all well.
