I have to say that I can (almost) go one worse than the UKTV style team. Christmas 1995 Myself, my brother and my sister each had an envelope from one of our Aunts, which we all thought contained money. Upon opening it the contents turned out to be a plastic luggage tag.
Enough said

The worst Christmaspresent - although it did give us a few laughs! - was a loo seat cover made out of yellow net, and with a huge bunch of very hard plastic flowers in the middle! No-one was brave enough to try sitting on it, but the children had great fun wearing it as an "Ascot" type hat. Smile

The worst present I recieved was one notelet with an envelope. I wrote a thankyou on this notelet to the person I had received the wonderful and useful notelet from, who I must add, had an estimated £13m in the bank (no wonder - they spent nothing on pressies).

Big Grin

I agree with designers assistant - people with very little money are always more generous when it comes to making someone happy - I love buying presents for others - it gives me joy to see them opening them up - I have very little money!!!

My mother in law once gave a pair of tightsfor christmas, thick granny ones! I am now divorced from her son, he was picking up her habit of being stingy!

Hi all,

Aren't we mean - because it is supposed to be the thought that counts... but reading this there doesn't seem to be much thought put into any of them.

Picking up on the point about people who have little money being more generous than those who have lots - I have to agree... I have friends who own a vineyard in Essex - which is making a bob or two - they also trade extensively on e-bay but last year I got two cross stitch pattern books for Christmas and I have never been interested in the craft - but then they would have had them lying around the house (probably quite literally) as that is one of the items they sale.

I am hoping for more this year but as I caught them on the hop (again) I wouldn't have thought so... but my neighbour who struggles on Social and Child Benefit is too generous... I just hope that this Christmas turns out all that she wants it to be - I truely do as there are some people who really deserve it and she is one of them.

Hi all,

Well I think my sister-in-law is going to be in my bad books this Christmas... there was confusion over whether she had sent tokens and who to... She said to Mum but Mum denied receiving any other than her own, then I remembered her telling me that I might as well have mine... So I opened it - glad I did as the voucher was for £ 10.00. Fine in itself until you think that I spent £ 25.00 on her and £ 20.00 on each of her two children... Angry

I know Christmas is about the thought behind the gift (which is why I prefer buying something that someone wants) - but I wonder how much she put in!!! Confused Not much it seems. I am trying not to judge but it is difficult.

It has happened in the past - when she spent even less on some scented wax thing - so I dont know why I am surprised - well yes I am as Mum said something about thinking about how much had been spent on them.

My nieces certainly have never bought me anything themselves - even a little something from them would have been nice... Oh well! more to think about next year.

The worse Christmas present was when my brother-in-law bought for my mother-in-law( known as the witch) radar for her broomstick when she had cartaracts on her eyes

I think I have received the biggest Christmas compliment ever, as a present.
My daughter who is stationed in Germany has bought me a web cam viewer for my computer...so that she can see me when we go on line together!!!! Come on now, all say, Aaah.
Wink P.S. It will be lovely to see her, too, as she has also bought one for herself.
Now I can have a Happy New Year and I hope you all do likewise.
Best Wishes

My previous worst present of the notelet has now been surpassed. This year, I received from an elderly neighbour who has an allotment, 3 half eaten sprouts in a brown paper bag with the large slug that was eating them. YUCK - meat and 3 veg!!. Before that, I had forgot, I also received a stone, that was given to me as a useful paperweight - but was infact a pebble that had been found in this persons garden and still had dirt on it. I was also given a secondhand frying pan - from my ex-partner (one of the many reasons why they are ex) we didn't get on after I whacked him round the head with it. I have also been given sweets that have been taste tested with nibbled corners - and a second hand shower gel!! I do try to give nice presents and try to put some thought into what I get people. I wish they would try to do the same, and I would like something new and not firedamanged even if its really cheap. Thank you.
