>Hi! Remember me?
It's been ages since I came on these boards due to one reason or another. I can see that Angie Kingshot is still treating everyone to her endless gardening knowledge
Nice one angie! Is Steph still here - and Jacqui Chana? What about Anji - is she still here? I believe Patricia Pelgrims is now living abroad. It has been about 2 years since I came on here. Hope there are still the "oldies" on here - and I'm looking forward to catching up with everyone. :D
Hi Jill
I believe most of the people you mention stopped writing quite a while ago. It happened after I joined in. Were they trying to tell me something!?
Jacqui D
Hi Jill and Jacqui D,
I will not down myself byaccepting all the blame but, I do think that I seem to bring most threads to a grounding halt at times.
Wonder what will happen to this thread.....
Cheers
Les (aka Ernie and/or Enrie) but lovingly called Ernest Leslie by my dear departed Mum (and Dad).
Hi Les
You are so wrong, I always enjoy reading your words of wisdom and you have a great sense of humour. I know what you mean though. I sometimes write something that I consider amusing or interesting and get completely ignored! See - this thread didn't grind to a halt. By the way, I am just recovering from a tooth abscess followed closely by a bad bout of flu! beat that for bad luck.
Jacqui D :D
Talking of bad luck Jacqui D - you may recall I ended up in hospital for 4 days a couple of weeks ago (pain in my chest). They couldn't find anything wrong with me, luckily, BUT I HAD TO GO BACK TO WORK!
Thanks for your nice words by the way. You just try stopping this thread now.
Cheers
Les
thanks for replying. I'm off work for a few weeks with a broken leg so I'll have more time to log on. Time is my enemy
cheers, Jill
Hi all,
I took a break from the boards for a while as I have been working all hours at work trying to keep up but it has eased a little - but as we have a pending move on here I think I wont be posting again for a few days.
I am so glad that you are back on the boards again Jill because I did miss you.
I am in contact with Steph but she is working full time and has given up with the boards as it seems like the same queries came up time and time again.
Plus the boards seem to have just a few dedicated posters like us and others that come in and post one message never to be heard of again.
I am now into mosaicing after doing a 5 day course in February... so as I am now feeling a bit better after being down with a nasty cough I am going to pick a few colours I like the look of and start a new design - abstract I think in bronzes going into lighter shades... The one I completed on the course was a new top for a coffee table - consisting on a rope border and a geometric design centre but I found it very contraining...
I can start cutting them up whilst watching the Inspector Lindley programme (if I were Havers I would have been kicked off the force for hitting the bosses by now, he is such a sly bully - I had a boss like that once and it took me years to figure out what he had been doing - i.e. bullying).
Well I had best get off now.
Take care and I will speak to you all soon
Angie
Has Angie gone (otherwise I can never get a word in - joking honest!)
Hi Jill, because there are so many ongoing threads, it is always possible to miss some crucial information.
Hope you don't have to repeat yourself here, but how did you break your leg, please? I will understand if you don't want to talk about it.
Knife, fork and spoon icon is the nearest I can get to crutches!
Cheers
Les
hi everyone,
can anyone tell me if they are having probs with yahoo mail.
gillianxx
Hi Jill,
there I was reading about cream leather suites and out of the caravan you fell? Whoops!
Cheers
Les
Hi everyone
This seems to be turning into a recovery ward! Has anyone else out there got any ailments that they are recovering from!
Lets hope we have a nice sunny Easter to cheer everyone up. Ive got my twin sister coming and we always have a lot of fun, despite having to take care of our elderly mother, who is just recovering from pneumonia! She is so tough and always bounces back.
What are you all up to at Easter, health permitting?
take care, Jacqui D :D
Hi gilly1, yes my Yahoo mail has been very slow and it took ages to send an email last night. Im not even sure if it got sent! :(
Jacqui D
Hi jill. I remember you - I've only just comne back online (well onto UKStyle), I was gillbirch (still am, but recently changed my addy on here).
Nice to here from you again - keep posting.
Hi
Yes I've got an ailment that I'm afflicted with but hopefully the courts will sort it out in April
Steve
Tut, tut Steve,
Dont mock the aflicted its not nice and you never know who is listening in.
Hi Gill - welcome back its really great to see the old faces back again. I will probably have to read some to the old posting to untangle who is who.
Are you the Gill who lives in South Wales?
It was better when you could look up people's biography to remind you.
I will shut up now so that others can get a word in edgewise...
But I will say that as my computer is being disconnected for the office move you will not be hearing from me before Thursday :( - and stop cheering Ernie - its not polite...
Only joking...
Angie
Angie, as you are The First Lady of UK Style, I would always step aside for you.
My younrger daughter is home for Easter but the following weekend we are off to Essex for mother-in-law's 91st birthday celebration.
Last year at her 90th, we left the restaurant, after a three course meal and more, and driving her back to her flat, she became anxious that she had left her suitcase behind. She thought she had been on holiday.
Got back to her flat and she complained that 'meals on wheels' had not left her any food to eat.
Oh well, I suppose one has to make allowances at that age?
Cheers
Les
Hi to my friends old and new
. Yea, angie, I am the Jill from South Wales - Port Talbot to be exact. Yes Les, I fell out of a caravan - hysterical isn't it! We were on holiday in Looe, looking at the lovely new park homes. Some were sited - but weren't quite finished. The one I "leapt" out of didn't have steps so I was told to be careful and sit down to get out. Well, Steve yhusband leapt out - with the grace of a gazelle
- me....well I hurled myself out with the grace of a freefalling hippo:D - twisting my foot right under me and snapping my fibula! HA! That's my freefalling days over I'm glad to say. So I'm off work for 4 - 5 weeks. I've never read so much and thanl goodness for UK Style, that's all I can say! I'd be well bored without my daily dose of House Doctor, Bargain Hunt and Flog it!
Angie, I'd really like to contact Steph....would you be so kind to let her know - and if she wants to - maybe I can e mail her...I think she got married not so long ago. Well, got to go now. chat soon. Jill x
Hi Jill,
I have been looking at the old postings to help me remember - so many people...
Yes I am still in contact with Steph - although I haven't seen her since before Christmas - I will have to ring her to tell her to go back on line as you want a chat.
I must get off home now as it is getting dark. I hope your leg is healing well - I wont say and you will be back to work soon. How is work? do you still work for the same company - a computer help line wasn't it - or have I got that wrong - NTL springs to mind...
Well must dash...
And Ernie, I would not presume to be the First Lady of the boards - just that I have a lot to contribute does not give me that right - but it is kind of you to think of me that way - it does my ego no harm at all
especially as I got no PRP (Performance related pay) for the first time since it was introduced... I only needed 2% for a pay increment - that is scuppered as it is only counted over 3 years - so unless I get 4% next year (watch out for flying pigs) then it will take me years to recover and as I am top of grade it is the only way - apart from salary rises, to add to my pay - other than changing job, which I dont really wont to do but will if I must.
Angie
Hi Jill,
A Hippo eh? I can now picture you!
Do you any connection with The Rise and Fall of Reginald Perrin?
Cheers
Les
Hi
Now Angela you know I'm one of the afflicted, so I would never mock, and for those who may be interested the back is doing well with only the odd twinge now and again - I am even able to work (hence the infrequent posts) and hardly use my walking stick anymore (not that I can at work anyway).
Anyway it is nice to see that when people return to the boards they are welcomed back so enthusiatically, it almost makes me wish I was one of the old time posters who had been away for an extended period.
I take your point about "little ears" but regardless my remark stands as from the various points of view it is true.
All the best
Steve
Steve, you seem to have received a tremendous welcome by the looks of it.
Can I bring up the subject of dri-lock walling while we are at it.
Do you have any influence with he UK Style Team (xxx), please? My message is drifting down the message boards headings.
Glad to see you are more mobile by the way.
Cheers
Les
Hi TiffanyCharles,
are you related to Charles Tiffany?
born Feb. 15, 1812, Killingly, Conn., U.S.
died Feb. 18, 1902, New York, N.Y.
We all remember him!
Cheers
