What a lovely idea I thought when I first saw this programme announced. I have since watched several programmes and at the end of every programme the prospective buyers "are still looking for the dream home" Has anyone actually bought one of the houses they viewed on the show? or is the programme another excuse for looking round other people's homes.

It would be nice if you mentioned the Estate agent that were selling the homes that were shown on the program, as some of them I was very interested in myself.

I feel it would be nice if these programmes used people with a more restricted budget for moving, not those who have a house in London and want to move out.
Given that the average price of a normal house in the SE is over £125,000 it would be nice to see what Joe public could achieve!

I have watched several escape to the ciuntry programmes and wonder like others does anyone ever buy a property. I would adore some of the houses and could meet the bill. However how old is the programme as some of the prices seem to good to be true. Mow.

What a shock to see a lady I used to know on 'Escape to the Country' during the week, the one coming from Oxfordshire, selling her house! Very nice it was too! Generally a lovely programme but is Catherine the lady from 'Country Living' magazine who did 'The Farmer wants a Wife'? I try to never miss the programme. Thank you!

Escape to the Country... Should be renamed Look around a couple of houses...

I know the BBC usually produce something good, but this is just a poor rival to Phil Turner and Kirsty Alsop and Relocation, Relocation, Relocation.

Most of the houses are now what the prospective buyer is looking for and the presenters don't seem to make much effort to look at the houses past "nice view" "nice decor"...

If you were selling up to move to the country, you'd need better advice than you get there.

Best stick with Relocation x 3!

a lot of these houses in the country are away from the usual other houses (comunity)and i am sure some of them are not connected to the mains sewer,if that is so why dont the persenter inform the "interested party"to this? And i am an avid watcher of the programme, and there are some lovely houses on show, can you tell me if any of these houses are ever sold?i think the people just show interest on the programme but really have no intentions of buying. How do you get on the programme? who knows one day it might be my turn. Thank you for your attention. Chade

Having watched every 'Escape to the Country Programme' and read other viewers comments I can only say how I agree with them.
One feels that the presenters are trying to sell them the houses which in so many cases are totally unsuitable. The word POTENTIAL becomes so commonplace it's ridiculous. Also, has anyone ever bought a house they've viewed on this programme?
Please date your programmes as prices appear ridiculous for May2003.
The idea is great but unlike some of your better programmes this one needs re thinking

I am an avid watcher of this program and its fore runner House in the Country shown on Carlton. I would be really interested in an "update" programme to see how the families have faired.

For the most part it seems to me that the people involved just want others to give them an idea of whats available in their price range so that they can settle on an area to concentrate their search for the perfect property in.

You have to be careful with programmes on Sky to check the credits to see when the programmes were made as some of them are really quite old - others may have been made in 2002 - but it would be useful to have a footnote to the programme to say how much property has gone up in that area since the programme was made.

For instance I moved to Aylesbury two years ago and house prices have gone up 20% a year for two years. They have steadied recently but are still rising on an average of 1% per month which works out at 12% per year - well above inflation. There seems to be no downturn in the market in this area - well not at the moment.

The problem that I have with this sort of programme is that it could take properties away from locals - as they will not be in a position to negotiate a deal against people who always seem to come from London or have more than one property to dispose of... I mean, how many people out there could afford to spend over 1/2 million pounds on a second home.

So it now seems that not only are holiday homers pricing locals out of the market but its affluent Londoners looking to escape the rat race for a few hours each weekend - but what does that bring to the community?.

Unfortunately, I live within an hours commute of London - so all the local villages are prime territory for the likes of the programme - and the prices are unbelievable. But I do not earn London wages.

I think I shall now get off my high horse and head for home.

The date the programme was made is always on the credits at the end.

Some of the older programmes with Sunita state that the people actually did move into one of the houses they viewed.

Great programme - loved looking round houses - gives you ideas for your own house .... keep up the good work
