>Repeat...Repeat...Repeat
The absolutely most worst, unimaginative, unoriginal programme ever to have been made has to be 'Hot Property' currently screening on UKStyle. That awful presenter, the couple who look at 3 properties, they then have to guess the prices of each of the properties and then, wait for it, they don't actually even intend buying the property and that awful presenter says with glee at the end of each episode,' Well that's today's Hot Property!' I cannot stand it and cannot believe the pointless format and I watch it only to have a laugh when there is nothing else on. This show is another example of awful endless repeats that are available on UKStyle. I have to say that one of the better programmes is 'Under Offer' but that too is now being repeatedly repeated and has lost its edge!
I must agree with everyone else....REPEATS ARE BORING!!!! Wendy
Well, I have to agree with all of you, I watched UK style whilst off sick for six weeks about 1.5 years ago and the same programmes are still being shown and about 3 times a day.
Please can we have some new ones!!!!!
Another thought has come from the fact that on a recent day off I had BBC1 on in the daytime and at lunch time Trading Up was on. When the programme started with Colin and Justin I realised I had seen the episode 3 times before on UK Style! If this is not a cheek by the BBC I dont know what isnt. Its not SKY or NTL we should be complaining about its the BBC for riping up off! What do we pay our TV licence for! The Beeb are making money from showing repeats on commercial channels on the UKTV network and have the cheek to show repeats on Terrestrial TV also and charge a licence fee for it that you have to pay! Also the wonderfull freeview that they keep promoting every programme break on BBC1 and BBC2 has UK History and UK Bright Ideas on it and UK Bright Ideas is made up of repeats of UKTV productions that were on UK Style and UK Food! UK History is made up of repeated BBC1 and BBC2 productions! We should lobby the BBC to scrap the licence fee for showing all these repeated programmes!
In answer to the last persons comments yes there are a lot of repeats on UK Food, UK Bright Ideas, UK Gold and UK Drama and Living TV in fact most of these channels are made up of repeats! UKTV is jointly owned by the BBC and Flextech Television, a division of Telewest Communications as shown at the following link: [link] This explains the number of repeats as the BBC are joint owners! That is why no Channel 4 productions are screened on UK Style. Perhaps someone should suggest to Channel 4 that they should start a digital/satellite channel to rival UK Style this may encourage more UKTV productions on UK Style and less bought in repeated BBC and Channel 5 productions?
Maybe we are moaning at the wrong people.
The Hosts haven't made any comments on our thoughts and we certainly know what type of programmes we want to see more of so who do we have to complain to to get something done:(
I NOW only watch UK Style if there is nothing else on any of the other channels and then there are times when you just want something none taxing to watch and UK Style is your best bet.
Do the other "UK" channels eg. Food and Living have so many repeats too? I don't watch them.
I agree with you all, repeat, repeat, if it was not for the live sport, I would consider having sky taken away, when you see the prices of houses on trading up etc, you soon realise just how old they are . Please let us have some new ones!!!!!
I watched Mag Ruffman once - never again. She was making a cabinet, and dented the wood with a hammer. She said "I'll show you how to deal with that later" Like an idiot I thought she would say something useful. Forget it, she 'kissed it better'!
It's not just Sky. The same old programes are repeated on Cable too. I changed from Sky to cable and actually thought I may get to watch something different....wishful thinking. It's bad enough that there are so many repeats, but the repeats are repeated later the same day, and if you miss the repeat of the repeat you can always catch another repeat on one of the + channels!
Anyone know how I can get one of the TV programes to come and do my kitchen or garden? Moving soon and EVERYTHING needs doing. Help!
I've just read email from PWN. Sorry can't agree about Katherine Rayward her designs are naff! I would rather die than take design advice from her! I always wonder how she managed to get a job on tv - does she have a famous dad/family member/husband/boyfriend!!!!
This is so true... It seems like if you fancy a day of Ground Force they STYLE is your channel...
Why not get some of those excellent Channel 4 shows like PROPERTY LADDER with Sarah Beaney and also Location, Location, Location with Phil and Kirsty.
I know that style makes some of its own shows, but do we really need another "ground Force" weekend or for that matter every old episode of Bargain hunt or Flog It. As much as I like House Doctor (mainly for Alistair Appleton) they always show the same episodes... remember the tiny cottage in kent! the 2 dreadful Scotland houses...?
Cash in the Atic is great, we just need more stuff and definately more Ozzie and Kiwi Changing rooms... DID anyone know how bad the style over there was???
COME ON UK TV, give us more of what we want and less of what you got cheap yonks ago that you are milking for all its worth!
Make MORE:
Design ER...
Anything with Phil Turner
Alister Appleton House programes... INVENT SOME!
Something with Sven
Make Katherine Rayward your leader and "jush" it up!
Hi There, I've just been reading your message board, & I have to agree with just about all of them regarding the repeats. I love watching all the style programmes, & just when you think you may have done all that you can to the home & garden, someone comes along with another idea, it drives hubby wild!!! but, as they're all repeats these days, he's having an easy time of it. Come on UK Style, please give me a chance to crack the whip again!! and show some original programmes.
Sheelagh in Kent
all the channels are really bad for repeats and it's about time one channel took the lead and actually reminded us why we pay 40 pounds a month on top of our TV license and showed something new it makes me laugh when we see the desighners talking about new trends well it was in 1994 when they first aired the programme
Repeats are cheap and that's what Sky is all about -making money for Rupert Murdoch and shareholders. They have commisioned a (very) few original progs but all with the same old format and same old talentless, lacklustre presenters (I won't name names - I'm sure we've all got our (un)favourite! The best progs came from the BBC - I used to begrudge the licence fee at approx £10 a month but compared with Sky (high) prices, I realise it is a bargain!!
I agree UK Style User (do you have a shorter name?)
They are putting out Ground Force for the Easter weekend! How many times have these programmes been on?
We've seen them on BBC2 then they switched to BBC1 and now they are on UK Style AGAIN.
If you intend to repeat a programme again and again I don't think you should make such a big deal out of having a whole weekend drawing attention to the fact that you are showing a whole weekend of REPEATS.
Sorry to go on but this also happened with Changing Rooms not so long ago. I didn't bother to tune in then and I won't this coming weekend.
Get some new programmes PLEASE!!!
who's Meg Ruffman?
What about it UK Style a programme that shows you how to do DIY in a step by step approach :D
That would definately improve things Jacqui, but wouldnt you get a bit distracted? :D:
Hi Gill
I would miss the words of wisdom because I found them so funny. What about Meg Ruffman and handsome chippy in a tight teeshirt.
I agree Jacqui. So we want a Meg Ruffman type of programme, but without Meg Ruffman. But what about the Words of Wisdom?
Yes Gill, except without all the disasters and nervous laughter,
Jacqui D
Hi Tracey
I agree! Simple step-by-step instructions would be great (like they do in cookery programmes). Also with fabrics - things like making slip covers for chairs too. Everything seems to be shown in a rush doesnt it!
Jacqui D
What we need is a technical programme that helps you to learn to do DIY. Design is all well and good but you need the know how to do the DIY jobs.
You watch a programme and they are showing you say, "putting up a shelf" but they don't tell you what equipment you need or how to do it.
I'm not saying that it would replace the "designer" programmes but it would make a bit of a change! Don't you think?
