It is not user friendly.

I wonder if I will bother to get used to it, given the lack of traffic on the site recently.

Hmmm.....All my previous messages seem to have been deleted today........Well I shall give my thoughts again then.......I like the new web-site......but I don't like the message boards at all....It seems like a notice board and not "chat", and they seem to be all over the place!......Also I want to know....Are we ever going to have a "real-time" chatroom?????

This is the second post I have made to this board as the first one got lost! I am having terrible trouble logging in. Won't accept my original password. What has happened to my name why am I now a UK Stlye User. I won't be for much longer at this rate. I hate the new boards. Sorry. I only joined just before Xmas and I liked the fact that you could see if there had been any new posts since your last visit. What happened to that facility? Also when you go into a board you have to click to get the latest messages. What a bore. I'm sorry to be a party pooper but I think these boards are so messy now I much preferred the old style. I thought I would voice my true opinions as it's no good saying it's wonderful if you don't think it is! Where has everybody gone. I thought that when I got back into the boards there would be loads of messages - is everybody so fed up that they have gone elsewhere.

I'm still here ;-)......Alot of new sites have "teething" problems....I am not keen on the message board format....but lets give it a chance to get started before we give up!...I have met some good friends through the message boards, and hopefully if we all give it a chance after a few wks we might not even notice the new format!

We love the new site, so it's a bit disappointing to hear you're all not so sure. Anyhow, here's some answers to some of the issues you've raised:
* The list of the top 10 posters - this is still here plus you can now see all the comments you've ever posted. It's on the Message Board homepage. To get to this, click on Chat, then on the left-hand column click on Message Boards.
* The list of most recent posts - again this is still here. It's on the Message Board homepage. To get to this, click on Chat, then on the left-hand column click on Message Boards.
* Nicknames - because we've only got the one registration system now for the whole site, it's important that you make sure your nickname is in your UK Style registration. To do this, click on Log In + Register (on the left-hand side of any page) and Log In, then go to My Style (on the left-hand side of any page), then My Profile (on the left-hand column in My Style). You can then add your nickname, if it's not already been taken.
* If you're having trouble logging in, it may be because you're using the registration information you entered for the message boards on the old site, rather than the registration information you had for the UK Style site. It's the UK Style registration information you need. If you've forgotten your original password, click on Log In + Register (on the left-hand side of any page), then fill in the 'Forgotten your Password' form and we'll send you your password.

Thanks. I've done that and it worked. I feel really guilty about moaning now and I'm going to use the site every day and I will probably get used to it!

Bring back the old style site......i am lost :(
Everything seems back to front (i have just read posts from 2001 (still not done your kitchen yet Steph ) there are no user profiles - or if there are they aren't obvious, I don't like it!!!!!!!!!
I do like the tip of the day tho (gonna fix my bathroom tap later )
I would also like to know if there will be a real time chat room this time around, and how about a little window that shows you who is online?
I am off now to try and explore this a bit more and see if i can get the hang of it.....wish me luck!!!

Ooooops, forgot to say........where are the members makeovers??? And did anything ever come of the suggestion that there was a place where we could post pictures (or even the facility to add them to our posts) rather or as well as a designated room makeover page? I remember when the hosts asked for suggestions for the new site that this was something that we all thought would be a good idea.

Ha Ha Jacs.....I am doing the kitchen at this very time......just taking 5 mins for a coffee ....Started it on Sat we did.....I already asked about makeovers on another board, and they said there isnt one.....:(......Like you I am not impressed with this format, but am still willing to give it a chance!!.....I just hope this gets posted....as at least 6 of my postings have " got lost" over the last few days :(

Finally made it ! Cannot login with my emailaddy, nickname or password. Tried to register with all this and that didn't work either. Had to use other email and other nickname. I want my old nickname back !!! Please !!!

And BTW what happened to our style files are they lost in cyberspace ? If I would have known that it all would be lost I might have done something about it.

Go away on holiday for a month and look what happens - ALL CHANGE (that's what).

Not bad but I did like the old boards too.

I have three questions

Is there an option where you can get the boards to show new messages since your last visit (like the old boards used to do).

Can you get the boards to just show the last months messages for instance instead of the last years! (You could mark this in your 'preferences' on the old site).

Where have the smilies gone!!

It's good the the most recent messages are at the top but we now have to read the thread back to front as it were. Because you are reading the last post to a thread first (if you get my drift) you have to scroll down to see what they are talking about. Oh I give up - bring back the old boards - I was quite happy with them!

Oh that's strange I just went back to look at the messages again and they all appear to be in the right order. The best thing you can all do is to ignore me as I'm obviously having a bad day!

Can you add smilies - yes but only if you remember what the short cut code is for them. I can remember :( :D I think - :( but that is about all...

This is mad!......On my screen it says there is a new message with todays date....Yet when I go in for a look, there is nothing since yesterday .....Is anyone else having this problem??

Where are you looking for messages? I didn't even know you could do that. I liked the old boards where you could see if there were any new posts since your last visit and also you could tick a box to let you know if you had a reply to a thread.

Hi......I just checked the date when I logged in, and on this thread it had todays date.......I checked to see what had been posted....and nothing was there......just Angies posting from yesterday ...So it seems whoever posted today.......their posting has "got lost"

Hi there, could you please at least change the colour of the message boards??? This screaming turquoise gives me a headache after a while, it's a real "in yer face" kind of colour. Does anyone agree with me?

I have just visited the homes and property section and that is laid out in yellow and it looks really bright and cheery which is really how you want the message boards to feel.
