hi
I have got a lovely arch window in my hallway and I would like to put some form of curtain or blind up, but I would like to retain the shape. I also don't want to block the light completely so I need something that can go up/down. Any ideas??

hi have you tried your local curtain store or buy some muslin and make a curtain, try a colour that match's your hallway or a contrasting colour which would look great in the sunlight.

I can't think of anything other than hanging a curtain of some sort.......it would be nice to get a theme going within it so its in a little world of its own, is there room to put a seat or attach a bench against the wall?.............wind chimes, hanging ivy, mirrors make it look bigger....hmmmm just a few ideas!

You could keep the arch by hanging a number of smaller different sized blinds in it... there is a specific name for them but for the life of me I can't remember...

A friend has very kindly given me two settees but I hate the colour of them. A friend has given me two large throws and I have bought myself two more and I already had two single throws. I now have six (four double and two single). The trouble is I cannot work out how to make them look good. Obviously I am not putting all of them on at once but no matter how many different ways I try to put them on it looks awful. Please help!!!!

Hi UK Style User,

What I would do is cut the throws up - so that you have a stripe of the same colour running down the middle of each, with the same contrast at each end.

This will give you the continuity which your throws currently do not have... it is then simply a job of sewing them up... also if you have the time and out of any spare material you could make simple cushion covers in reverse - i.e. with the stripe colour now at the end and the end as the stripe...

It should work well...
