Hi,

There probably won't be another Ground Force Weekend until next year but there will be a
Ground Force Night from 4pm on New Year's Day, so put that one in the diary if you're a fan!

Hi,

Do you know that there is a whole series of ground force which I am sure I have missed but despite watching these re-runs, they always seem to show the same ones, not the newer ones so I am continually watching to check if it is one I have missed. And I am usually disappointed.

Angela :(

how do you get ground force to come and do your garden? we bought a house a year ago that has needed completely overhauling. we've done the interior and the front aspect of the house but we have run out of money and resources for the rear garden. we need help!

Hi. Ground Force is not currently looking for gardens to be featured on the programme. You can find out how to be on a makeover show by taking a look at this page:

Hi Wonder Woman,

No groundforce are probably finishing now that Alan has left the show... you will probably have to pay to have it done.

I had mine landscaped for aroung 1,500.00 and I think it was money well spent... although I do not have that sort of money now...

You could try swapping your labour and expertise on something for someone elses on gardening... or have a gardening party where you supply the food and drink and your friends the labour (and the equipment)... I have heard that these can be very sucessful - it certainly could clear your garden in an day and get it ready for inspiration.

The I would recommend that you get some source material - gardening or design mags and find out what you like and dont like, decide what you want from your garden and more importantly which area's are best suited to that and then sketch that down on a plan... split the garden into four and work on each area in turn working away from the house... - well when you are painting you dont do the whole house in one go - you split it into rooms - so you should aim to do the same with your garden...

Aim to create area's you cannot see from the house, so that you have to go and explore... if your garden is small this can be achieved by planting a large bamboo (clump forming - not running) in a stratigic place, add mystery by planting and statury, rocks and stones as well as fencing etc... so that you give the garden a flow and an energy.

But before you do anything too drastic I would take some time to actually visit some local gardens - pick up plants which do well in the neighbourhood and you like - which you can be assured will work well in your garden... and take pictures and ask questions... the best garden opening scheme is the Yellow Book - work looking out for next spring which has lists of gardens open in your area on particular days - go and look, be friendly - I have met lots of great people who share my interest in gardening... see if there are any local groups you can join - but most of all make it fun, fun, fun -

Because if you are not into gardening you can make a big mistake by making it too much like hard work to keep up with... :(

according to my TV mag, someone called Kirsty King is taking over Alan's role as head ground Forcer, "when it returns later this winter". Smile

ME TOO!! :(

Not only is he interesting and knowledgeable he is genuinely interested in plants and also light-hearted not to mention a nice bloke overall - if I might say so.

He will be sorely missed. Can't we get a petition going "Bring back Alan!".

There was lots of postings on the boards way back about this but as I understand it Alan just wants to move on and I don't blame him as he has had the BBC filming in his garden for the last 8 or so years... he deserves his peace and quiet...

But do not get to down hearted as he will be back in the new year with a second series on How to be a Gardener...
