I did my first ever craft fayre last year. I took all sorts of things I'd made. Painted bottles - easy to paint florals and simple scenes on really cheaply, know anyone with a horse? Hammerite the shoes and paint on them, do a bran tub/lucky dip. All those unwanted Mcdonalds toys, things you bought and will never use, wrap them up in christmas paper and whack them out for 50p each, a whole lot of 50p's add up to a lot! Smile Any good at sewing? Make pouches, edge them with lace and stuff them with pot pourri. Wooden spoons are 25p each in Tesco - paint them/varnish them for decoration, drill a hole through the handle and thread ribbon to hang them up/stick a dried floral display in the hollow bit.Make Hairy Potters Eek!! Collect your old tights and stuff the feet with sawdust 'til it's about the size of your fist, put some grass seed at one end and tie up. Stick eyes on the head and when they are put in a saucer of water on the kitchen window sill, the "hair" will grow Wink Good luck :D

Reading back through my query it looks as though I was comlaining that I hadn't won a big competition - I wasn't Smile I was just wondering if anyone HAD won as I hadn't recognised any of the winners names. Of the 1420 regulars I just thought that one of us may have had an exciting tale to tell about a big day out with the celebs :D . In the past I too have had several books and that pair of Linda Barker candlesticks that she made when she was making over Ian and Rebecca's place Cheeky

Most carpet shops sell it. Try Carpetright. Sometimes you can get a room sized remnant pretty cheaply. That seagrass floorcovering is really "in" at the moment too. I couldn't tell you off the top of my head what price that is though. If you have a look in Family Value (or do they only have them in Wales:confused Smile , you know the type of place I mean - they usually sell off goods that were last years design, they usually have grass rugs in at about 3.99 each. Happy shopping Smile

Hi Angie Smile
Nice to "hear" from you again. So, you are a busy girl hey? Take time out for yourself and book yourself that break. Don't talk to me about passports Eek! We only flew from Bristol to Edinburgh in April and we had to provide photographic proof of who we were. Well, my passport expired in 1989, never used it. To my absolute horror when I was having my photo taken in the booth inside the postoffice, Steve put his arm in and frightened the life out of me! Well, my mug shot looks very strange and insane Wink I look like I've been hit hard with something soft :D

OK! who's hooked Smile I certainly am. I used to think David Dickinson was a right plonker - but I've warmed to him and his cheeky "cheap as chips". I am hooked on antique fairs and have told myself that before I die Eek I WILL find a piece of John ditchfield glass, a genuine Clarice Cliffe and a piece of Lalique glass. I was rummaging through my mother's many cupboards the other day, just to see if she had anything tucked away in there, any hidden treasures. I found a Carltonwear fruit bowl in the shape of a leaf and 3 Clarice Cliffe plates Eek. I never realised that those little terracotta places with nastursiums on that we used to use as side plates in the 60's and 70's were Clarice Cliffe. I am now devastated because they have not worn well. They are chipped and cracked. Never mind, they have been used lovingly but I don't suppose they are worth anything. Has anyone else got any "special" pieces? Smile

With not being on here as often as I used to be, what with having a virus on the pc and then holidays, I haven't used the chatroom. Is it still open? I had a look through the homepage for the link, and couldn't see it. Maybe because it is not a day it's in use.
Thanks
Jill Smile

Have any of our "regulars" ever won a competition they have entered through the homepage? I enter every single one, not that I expect to win, but the names of the winners don't seem familiar. I know you have to be registered to enter. Who are these phantom competition winners Confused, I'd be interested to know who's won, and what kind of prize/day out was won.

I know this has nothing at all to do with spiders but I must tell you. Steve, hubby, hates flies. Dirty things that leave blobs all over your windows! When he's watching telly and there is a fly annoying him...out comes the hoover, on go the attatchments and he sits in wait...like Rambo Wink If the unsuspecting fly dares to invade his space - as long as it's within reaching distance with the nozzle - up the pipe it goes Smile He's just as manic with wasps. Sits there with a tennis racquet, whacking them across the room. Keep taking the tablets, Steve Hug

I really splashed out this year and bought a packet of cottage garden seeds from Lidl, they cost 29p Eek!! You should see the masses of flowers I've had from them, they're amazing. I can recognise the cornflowers, masses of them. there are also tall pink and white things with trumpet type heads and all sorts of other pretty flowers. Well done Lidl. I'll be buying more from there Wink

Got to say I don't usually watch these shows, but this has got me hooked. I couldn't do the things they've been subjected to. I have an irrational fear of anything wiggly (easy Steph Wink ) but the weakest, lily livered of them all, Darren Day, has done the most "tasks" and won the most meals......apart from Tara who got all 8.Can't remember who's doing what tonight! Will watch attentivelt Smile
