I have just built my house in Hungary on a rather rough plot. I would like to grass/turf around the house (approx 600 sqm). In some areas the ground has a lot of weeds in it and although I have dug it over several times but I can't get rid of them. The roots seem to be too deep to get out entirely.

Most weeds, except japanese knotweed need the green top to feed nutrition down to the roots. if you keep cutting off the green tops, they should weaken and die. This may take several years but is probably better than applications of vast quantities of glyphosate chemical weedkiller.
