1 do the deck boards need gaps between them? 2 some of my boards are short does it matter were the insets go ie random or together.

HI yes you do have to gaps between them so that the board can expand & contract in wet or dry weather. Smile random

thanks for that brightwhatever----how much of a gap please.----i have been pondering this for 2 days ,thanks for pointing me in the right direction

HI. left 1/8" when i made my decking .Do not forget to have a slite slope on it so that no rain water dose not collect on ,if it near to the house, have the slope a way from it Smile

all the main deck on, short bits to fit.just stopped for a cup of tea (knackered)
