Confused I took over a very disused allotment just before xmas, but, just as we were starting to clear the site and try to work out exactly what we had took on., i had to go into hospital for quite a serious operation & i have to have another op in may. As you can imagine this has really put our plans back...As we dont really know what we are doing. i would appreciate any help or advice that you could give me.At the moment it is just an empty piece of land, that hasnt been worked properly for several years, so it is in really good condition. We really need your help & advice.as i was really looking forwards to getting started this year...i await your reply...

I would let the worms do the work for you, get some really good rotted down manure cover as much as you can and cover with textile. Obviously some veg do not like freshly put on muck but you could still put on some general fertiliser, I would avoid if you can rotovating it as this just chops up the weeds. I found some textile for 3.99 as long as it is pinned down properly it should be fine, then let the worms do their work for you. Work small areas that way you won't over do it, as once you are down there it is very easy to get carried away, and your muscles will soon stiffen up. Smile
