Hiya I have really heavy clay soil, I have tried different types of plants, I would suggest to add lots of grit, mulch and organic matter , To aid drainage. I have found rubella, pampers grass, dogwood and redrobin and roses grow well, also different types of cotoneaster have grown well.I have notice that different types of bulbs do well I have wanted to try a bamboo but i recommend an establish one, as it takes the roots a while to penetrate around the surrounding soil. I found also that raise beds were the best idea for clay soils.
I have just introduce a honeysuckle, so I'll let you know how that grows. Kat
