I've seen so many times, in gardening advices, to use 'hardcore' beneath sharp sand as a good foundation in laying slabs to make flat'n'even patio.

Having searched everywhere on the Internet I just cannot find the suppliers and I was just wondering whether one can buy it, or 'make' it from any old stones? I'm totally mystified.

I appreciate anyone's suggestions.

Is this what you need to use? Gravel / shingle? I think shingle or aggregate is what you need to search for. I hope that helps.
