As TV in general usually has a standard of proffessionalism and customer service far above most other industries I've been amazed when watching 'The Victorian Kitchen Garden' how badly timed the voice over ad for the next programme has been. The bad timing was exceeded tonight when Harry Dobson's last words of the series were drowned out by some over enthusiastic announcer telling us about the 'lost gardens of Helligan' which were coming next. We then had the end credits and music uninterupted. did he get too excited? Was he worried if he waited another ten seconds we might already have turned off? Well I did on principle!

hoorah! me too! the announcer drove me nuts speaking over the last words of the program! once he drowned out a poem and another time some thoughts from harry dobson. i was so cross, and of course when i saw it repeated, it happened again, because it was the same tape. Mad

Someone was telling me there was a mention of this problem on BBC's points of view and the answer was that as they need to compete with so many other channels, they have to do this to prevent you switching over. I have an answer to this - ban the practise then everyone's on an equal footing.

I eventually bought the DVD of Victorian Kitchen Garden on amazon for less than £10 he can't talk over that!
