we have just converted part of a chicken run into a veg garden will the chicken manure in the ground be to strong for any veg??

We have just aquired an allotment plot but do not know the best way to start to work the site,it is a little neglected but with a little work can be ready to plant in a week or two any ideas as to what to plant first,pluss any tips to develope the site(water ,wildlife,composting etc)

hi chris I have just started gardening and have bean given some asparigus ,what do I do with them ? some are in a pot some in plastic bags I do not know the first thing about them ,except I like to eat them.I have also put my name down for an allotment any healp will be welcome
