Vegetable garden

Hi Chris, wonder if you could give me some ideas on companion planting to help resist bugs in the garden. I tend to grow, runner beans, potato's, carrots, salad vegetables, cabbage , califlower, sweetcorn and peas.
Any advice would be very much apriciated, we live in the south east Uk, Folkestone, just below some hills so get plenty of slug activity.
