Murder Mystery Dinner party HELP!!!!

Hi,
I'm doing a murder mystery dinner party next weekend (The story background is the pungent pumpkin processing company's 1st anniversary)... Anyway I thought pumpkin... i'll make a pumpkin soup for start but my guests (there will be 8 of us including myself and the hubby) didn't seem keen on soup as I always serve soup! I decided to do a caramelised red onion and goats cheese tart to start (never made pastry before so should be interesting!) Now I'm stuck on the main course as I wanted to make roast chicken and veg but my oven will only with two trays so I don't think it will work due to the tarts! Also unsure about which dessert to make... I really want to impress them because I normally make hearty food and just want to do something elegant!
nearly forgot to mention... A few of the guests are muslim so no pork and no alcohol in the dishes (I'm going to buy the meat from a Halal butcher on the day)!
Please send me any ideas!
