Ingredients

passata

Thread Starter: IRNBREWholic    Started: Thu 19 Feb 2009    Replies: 3

I asked my husband to buy one of these ready-made shop bought pasta sauces (yes,I know homemade sauces are the best)
but he bought a bottle of passata instead (no wonder,it's much cheaper!)
it doesn't have a strong flavour as I thought it would, but it looks good
What can I do with it?
How do I make into into pasta sauce?
Does it need to be diluted or just seasoned?

Not unless you feel you need to, I would taste half way through cooking and adjust then.

Thanks Rosti!

Would you recommend adding sugar to it?
I'll try it tonight with some basil and garlic

To make it into a pasta sauce just use it in place of the tinned tomatoes you would normally use. It is just very finely chopped then sieved tomatoes. Don't dilute it, it is done that way to get a good consistancy and good flavour.
