Rachel I don't know if you get chance to read these but I just wanted to thank you for bringing baking into my life so simply! I've never dared to touch anything like baking, not even a pastry, but thanks to your simplistic guidance, you removed the fear for me and my cupboards become fuller each day with baking ingredients! I'm going to try soda bread today. You really don't know how much you have done to help people like me. I'm disabled and this brings so much joy into my life. You have inspired me so much and truly have dispelled the myth in my eyes that baking is difficult. Sure, I've had a few hiccups along the way, but that's the best way to learn. Thank you so much!

Emma from Cumbria xxxx Hug Smile

Hi there! I recently got Rachel's bake book and had a go at the wholemeal sourdough recipe. The dough was very stiky and stingy and un-keadable. I had to pour it into 2 loaf tins to get it into the oven. Don't get me wrong the bread it produced was delicious but the dough didn't behave as descirbed in the recipe. Has anyone out there had a go?
Alex.

Hi foody 5 not sure about recipe for chicken wings. Leek potato and blue cheese soup in Rachel's food for living book on page 15. It is so yummy, but dont add any salt until you have finished making the soup. I found the cheese added more than enough salt. Enjoy!

I made the dutch cheese croquettes today. They were delicious. But - when cooling the mixture it really should be left for at least an hour on a covered plate in the fridge to firm up, it then becomes like a dough and much easier to shape. It didn't say in the recipe if I could freeze them so I have tried at the shaping stage. I have made mouth size ones and thought they would be good for canapes. Cooking and re-heating when guests arrive. What does anyone think?

I tried that banana sponge and I was very disappointed. The banana I think needs to be riper than Mrs Allen said and the most important thing is the measurements for the dish. I got out a 1.5 litre pie dish and the sponge spilled over the side!!! Not happy at all.

It doesn't suprise me she got back to you personally, she does seem a lovely person. It is just a matter of timing and I wasn't meaning to criticize Rachel in person. Smile

Hi, just to let you know Rachel very kindly emailed personally last year when I enquired about something in her cookery book. I had contacted her management but she took the time to do it personally. Yes its probably bad timing introducing the section but she has just had a baby and will probably get round to answering your questions, Rachel's web site hasnt been updated either!

Well I don't feel anyone is bickering, nor do I think the UKTVFood team would have put it here without her knowing.

But who knows.

Can't think what we are all bickering about, Chances are she 'Never' reads 'HER' Posts anyway.. She probably does not even Know the BBC put it here !!!

Well maybe a little silly to start the new section when she was already "in foal" then. Big Grin

Having been in foal, I would imagine she is a little busy with the latest member of "The Little People".
