I have the recipe from the Bake show for 'soda bread' - which I cant wait to bake. In the show the recipe includes 400mls of buttermilk and I wondered could you let me know how to make this. many thanks

Iam unable to obtain buttermilk, however I understand you can subsitute this with yoghurt or 1tbsp of vinegar added to one cup of milk.

Hi, I'm just a wee novice here really, but I've used half yoghurt to milk, whisked it up and that worked ok?

Another alternative is to add 2 tablespoons of white vinegar or lemon juice to normal milk.

It's worth a try! I have the same problem, even though our morrisons and tescos stock it, you are lucky to find any left!

just posted a help for soda bread, tried buttermilk and milk and vinegar and i am still getting a hard crust can any of you professionals help me find out what i am doing wrong as i said in post i have checked temp, etc. i will get it right!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
