Dougy Boy

I looked at the ratings for around this time last year as comparison and to be honest, GFL didn't even rate in the top ten and MK does feature in the top ten - in pure audience numbers there seems to be some similarity. That's why it irritates me to see some of the sweeping statements from some posters in terms of audience figures. If people on this board who say they no longer watch, and are claiming not to watch MK, there seems to be an argument that MK has picked up additional viewers since GFL left the screen.

As always DYOH

cheers
jan

I have to say I am not a fan of MK, but was a huge fan of GFL. I am not sure if it was just Jeni or the format of the show, but it was enjoyable to watch whereas MK seems a chore - and I have tried. Come on UKTV Food, do something about it!

I don't think Waitrose could care less about what some show they never sponsored did back in OCtober 06, but I'm sure they are VERY concerned about the ratings of a show are now after an entire season trying to get viewership. That's the only point being made.

What was really startling was the fact that when Season 1 ended - and they replaced the 8PM timeslot with Two Fat Ladies - that this overdone repeat got over twice the viewership in the first week, in the same timeslot, compared with Market Kitchen just in the prior week.

That's not good.

And now in season two MK is struggling to keep its head above water with only one episode a week even scratching 30k viewers.

It's looking pretty dire considering how much is being spent on this daily production.

Jannymac, you are so right, the viewing figures, comparing the same time of year last year and this, between Great Food Live and Market Kitchen, definitely show that Market Kitchen has better figures and has increased the overall viewing of the channel.

I also think this Market Kitchen show has to go. It simply ruins the entire channel. I can see from the viewing figures that it's "in the tank", so they should just cancel it now and replace it with something with a wider appeal.

I think essentially a boycott is already in place looking at the numbers on the web. When the reruns of Naked Chef can get more viewers than Market Kitchen, it's time for it to be axed.

I think that when 20 -30K people are watching everyday, a couple of dozen so called foodies (including all thier false identies) do not count or matter, leave the channel and the site if it upsets you so much.

Just stop moaning and give the loyal viewers who still enjoy the channel a little peace to get on with watching and talking about food.

Thank you

I would think that they will do something about it skippyman, it is so dire as Micheline says.

Every time I check in on the programme it doesn't seem to improve. And why have they put Diana Henry on the show now? What problem was THAT supposed to fix?

I've just checked barb again this week and - once again- Market Kitchen doesn't even appear anywhere in the ratings. What a disaster.

Hundreds of Posters here [if not more] have been telling UKTVFood for over six months that this show is a complete turkey and still they air it night-after-miserable-night.

I guess it may very well be that a boycott is in place as Market Kitchen, once again, didn't even appear in the ratings last week.

And insult to injury, that dire Rhodes Across India actually DID!! Repeats of repeats are getting better viewing numbers than MK - their flagship show. Come on now guys, kill MK off and save yourself a wad of cash.

Well it looks as though Market Kitchen is going off the air on our channel here so maybe that's a sign??

Not soon enough, IMHO!
