Has anyone heard/read whether Market Kitchen is going to be renewed for another year?

hello there.. well, i heard that its MK last week, well FANDABYDOZY.. BUT... does this mean that GFL is coming back..??? i do hope so..i have really missed it, i know someone said previously that she was in your face, but thats what made her so watchable, and the chefs are great, the whole format of the show, so so much better than MK..... BRING BACK GFL!!!!!!!!

Could you explain LaraLou, is Market Kitchen just going on hiatus for the summer or is it "ending"?? Their announcement was so ambiguous.

If it is ending I am never, never going watch the replacement. It will be rubbish, as will the presenter, who I think should be executed at dawn by slapping to death with a wet kipper.
In fact I am no longer going to watch UKTV Food ever, ever, ever again.
Well apart from Rhodes Over India, probally China too. Rick Stein, Inher Garden. Mustn't leave Deliah out or all AWT's stuff. Tamasins not too bad either. Nearly forgot James Martin & Heston
We must start a petition to keep MK on air for the next 50.75yrs. I will so miss that bunch of Coriander and the view of the Pub outside the market.
Big Grin or Angry That's up to you to guess. Think it sounds familiar? Wink Smile

Ha! Big Grin Hilarious!!

I only originally posted thinking that maybe someone from UKTVFood would see it and reply.

But, as usual, no.

Hi guys, I think you will find that Market Kitchen is on a summer break and is back in September - well that was according to Matt T on last weeks programme. Karen x

Thanks Karen for that nfo, it's nice to know. Not that I'd miss Market Kitchen that much really but the last couple weeks ahve shown a glimpse of what it could be. I hope they turf all those old presenters and bring in someone fresh like Amnda Lamb, she certainly livened up the show immensely. Maybe it needed a real TV host all this time.

I agree TVFoodie, the show certainly has got better, I think its to do with the change in presenters, I actually like Matt T and TPB but when Silvano, Sophie or Amanada are on with them it just seems to gel - they could make a few changes to the content though and I think they could be on the way to a new winner - its taken them some wot nearly 18 months' to get there but well better late than never. Lets see wot September brings. LOL Karen x

Develish Has Matt T gone on work experience? ..because... Ages ago I said that they should make Mk like "something for the weekend" with the excellent, warm, friendly presenters Tim Lovejoy and Simon Rimmer. To my horror Matt T was on "something for the weekend". Although I cant warm to Matt I do feel MK is gradually improving

I totally agree with you there!
I used to watch Good Food Live / Bites, and was not a great fan of Jenny, but this is total rubbish in comparison!

Rubbish and hard to follow or replicate recipes.
Rubbish presenters.
Rubbish concept.
Rubbish production.

I used to record GFL occasionally to watch again and again when a 'good one was on'.
Now I very rarely watch more that 2 or 3 mins of these bunch simpering, self gratifying 'Coq au Vins' before I'm hitting the change channel button.

For goodness sake, and I never thought I would say this, but, …..BRING BACK JENNY !

I agree entirely about the recipes mjbayley, they are hard to follow and I have actually never been inspired to cook anything from Market Kitchen. Unlike Great Food Live which always inspired and I still frequently cook many dishes from that sadly missed show.

your capital letters mean you are shouting! The things is Good Food live and Jeni have all moved on. This Market Kitchen is now almost a year old.The chefs are good and the content ,not much different to Good Food Live,so get over it. Good Food Live is no more.

I am forced to agree that Market Kitchen is getting worse by the day. Or perhaps it's just getting more and more tired. Not clear as to why they bothered recommissioning it. they would save an absolute BUNDLE if they just dropped it.

I think it would improve no end if they got rid of the patronising Matthew Fort

Yes, Pina, a lot of sensitivities! I just can't see where this show is going. It has become really repetitive lately and why are there 1,325 different "hosts" for this show? If it absolutely must air, I wish they'd put it on at a much later hour.

I think Matthew, and Tom, showed their true colours yet again last night.
Sneering at the Spam, and Marmite cookbooks. Obviously they would prefer 2001 ways with Fois Gras. or ways with Wagyu.
I really don't need two patronising pompous well-off people mocking how the riff-raff live, it's bad enough having to live it.
It's getting a really nasty elitist edge to it.
At least Matt grounds the show.

It has developed quite the "elitist edge" recently hasn't it? I don't think the producers know really what direction they want to take this show, it has been adrift for quite a while now.
