I am so angry that GFL and Jenni are axed. This show has had all anyone could want informative and always such fun to watch. Even if having little interest in cooking anyone watching would be inspired to try to make some of the reciepes. Jenni and the team should be recommended watching for anyone suffering from drepression or just when feeling a little chessed off with life nobody could watch her and the team without feeling cheerful by the end of the show.. I wish her well in the future and thank her for the pleasure she has brought us all.....Maz

I am gutted that this is the end of GFL. The show started when I was pregnant with my first child, I watched it when i was on maternity leave and it got me interested in what we were eating and where it came from. I've watched it ever since, sometimes more than once a day Embarrassed and I can't believe it's being axed!

I certainly won't be watching yet another re-run of the same Rick Stein/Nigel Slater series'!

BIG MISTAKE... I SAID BG MISTAKE!!!!!
I cannot believe they have axed the best programme onTV. Are they mad? Can't they see what a following it's got. why axe something that is funny, informative, unique, and got the best presenter on tv.UKTV food has lost my loyalty too.

FOOLS Develish

SAVE OUR JENI AND SAVE OUR GFL.
I too have just watched the last show. Jeni shone at her brilliant best but her sadness was palpable. There were tears in my kitchen as well. All involved in the decision to axe this show should be ashamed of themselves. I still can't believe that our Jeni and all the gang wont be back live on Monday. They have been part of my life for over five years and I miss them already.

GOOD LUCK JENI AND ALL CONNECTED WITH GFL. WE WANT YOU BACK.

Why is GFL being cut - it cannot be lack of viewers -thousands of us watch daily - it is the only thing gets me home at a reasonable time; presenter - Jenni is brill - the sparks fly at times but that adds to the "reality" of the programme. "Jenni's Boys" are the best - who can ask for more than Brian Turner. I've just had a really sad Friday night; Thanks GFL....::(((

can't understand the reason behind the ending of gfl and jeni.i had withdrawal symptoms when she went on holiday, summer break was hard, too.she was the only reason i watched and subscribed to sky.well there goes my subscription.what stupid idiot thought this one up.
if the reason is personal, jeni's own personal reasons, that's different.even then gfl would not be the same.
maybe itv will offer her the same show, here's hoping, especially if uktv food don't rethink and bring jeni and the show back.
BRING BACK JENI AND GFL.SHE BRINGS A RAY OF SUNSHINE INTO OUR LIVES.
who can forget the banter between paul hollywood,or rimmer,or gino, the fun never stopped Angry Angry Cry Cry Mad Mad Confused

Please keep Jeni as THE presenter of your food progs. She is sooooooo much better than any of the other pretentious g**s you have. What Terry Wogan is to Radio 2, so Jeni is to UKTVFood!!
Will stop watching this channel as there is very little else on it that I like.

Another disgruntled subscriber, many others disappointed at GFL being axed, do the viewing figures not say anything?, how come the only live show gets the axe?, are we as subscribers/viewers now going to be left with only repeats of old shows etc? how about reviewing the decision and accepting a mistake has been made and get the show re-instated, with Jenni of course, wouldn't be the same without her.

As much as i was not a fan of Jeni (ssee me past posts), i thought every good thing must come to an end. 5yrs is a long time for any show (remember this is not friends) and it seems the BBC will use the money for another food show; hope it wont be crap

This is just nuts! Not wanting to get all sentimental but GFL is the best thing on TV!

Execs will get all focussed on demographics and projections, and they'll say things like "our tracking data showed that we could attract a younger audience". Well xxxxxxxs!

Top Gear's success is that its not about cars: its about motoring.
Top of the pops 2 is not about bands: its about music.
and GFL was not about cooking: it was about good times through food!

Show me a programme right now that actually taught us about ingredients rather than just how to cook them.

and Jeni, my god she got in the way but wasnt she fantastic! Every episode I watched she made me laugh out loud, she shared her life with us and I am truly thankful to her.

The TV execs have made a cold calculating decision to end this show and with that they will see the community of fans that watch it leave their network.

No disrespect to Rimmer and Ramsay, but they're not going to tell me what beer to have with my risotto, or how to make a bread starter and quite simply, theyre not going to brighten up my day with my guaranteed lunchtime laugh with Jeni.

Pity the "tracking data" doesn't account for that!

I guess I for one will be signing off UKTV food this weekend along with Jeni - I mean, what is left, repeat after repeat of Delia, James Martin, Nigella and ahh!!!! Rick Stein, sorry no disrespect meant to any of these chefs but their programs have been repeated weekly for the past 3-4 years. Apart from GFL what new program have they shown recently (past couple of years)?? I don't think anybody works in the UKTV Food studio anymore I believe the caretaker just changes the video tape. Good Luck Jeni

The last GFL was just as good as the first. I have watched GFL every day and like others will be one who will not be watching UKTV Food anymore with constant re-runs of Delia, James Martin, Nigella and Rick Stein................ With such a following for GFL and the brilliant Jeni - lets hope that there is a return sooner rather than later Confused

I am really shocked to hear that GFL has been axed, how can they do that to such a great programme with such a brilliant presenter, the programmers should be sacked they don't know what they are doing. Angry Angry If it correct that they are replacing with Tana Ramsay and Parker Bowles then I for one won't be watching!!!!!!!!!!! Bring back Jenni!!!!! Good luck Jenni.

I am in the utterly sad position of having missed the last show. I set the video incorrectly and when I realised on Sat morning there was no usual repeat. I am still so cross with myself. I don't know if Market thingy is replacing GFL as they are advertising it as an 8:00 show. Whatever, it looks trash. Just like that awful thing they had on BBC2 a couple of years ago with three presenters, can't even remember what it was called. It taught us nothing and showed a complete lack of respect for the viewers.
I thought it would be nice this week to watch some of the highlights of GFL, but it is proving sad beyond belief. It was fun to watch when the show took a summer break, but now watching it knowing that there will not be any more it is heartbreaking. Who else could you watch talking with a mouthful of food? Only Jeni. She just made me laugh. I can't believe it's finished. It really is just like the BBC. Radio 2 was one of the most popular stations, it played what people liked. Oh they can't have that. Better get rid of it all. Why, why are they always trying to appeal to a younger audience? It's not them who are at home watching tv and listening to proper radio. Sorry. What a rant. I'm just so angry that each time we get into a flow of something good, somebody thinks they know better and takes it away. Angry

I didn't know we had any Western Australia people on the boards! I love Perth, been only three times though but had a great dinner in a small restaurant in Subiaco.

We're all very frustrated by GFL going off the air and replaced by this Market Kitchen program. Awful.

We're trying to get FoxTel to reconsider their scheduling. We've ahd good feedback so far, but it seems quite bureaucratic. Our fingers are crossed!

Well another mention just before the show started today that "Jeni will be back in the autumn".

I don't know if this was a repeat and just the same announcement repeated, but it was very odd and not in context at all with the rest of the announcements?????

Just like this post is to the thread title.
I imagine that there is very limited interest in the UK about TV shows in the Colonies

Well as it turned out not exactly what has evolved. Jeni has moved to LBC radio and now the BBC with her new programme "Food Poker" but it does appear that there will be a new daily, LIVE food program on UKTVFood sometime before the end of the year. That will be most welcome. There is something "fresh" and fun about live TV programmes.

Well, good on Jeni! I hope to see her soon on my TV! Smile Smile She is such a pleasure to watch and chuckle with.

Anyone have any idea what the conept of Food Poker really is?
