I was shocked and sadded to here that Great Food live & Extra are to be axed! They are the only reasons I subscribe to Sky TV. Jeni is THE best presenter on TV. She is the glue that holds the show together and is both entertaining and a true professional. I wish her well in her future endeavours. I do hope the "powers that be" at UKTVFood read the emails and messages logged and have a good hard think over the summer and see fit to bring back GFL & Extra bigger and better than before! Please could someone explain why such a popular program has been axed...this is madness! Cry Angry

Totally agree... why have they axed it? Maybe because it is one of the few original (first-run) programmes on the channel, i.e. not a re-run of something shown on other channels before, and costs too much? Dunno...

I totally agree with all the comments re the sad news that Jen & co are going. Its the only 'fresh' programme on the channel which is so fab and up to the minute. I fear that this will be the end of this channel - how long can we watch repeats?? Anyone remember the other food channel which was axed? Confused Cry Eek

The recipes cooked on this show are always fascinating, even though sometimes not always practical with some of the ingredients but it's good to see how the others live! The programme is always up to date, not like others which are repeats and show produce which is expensive when not in season. (This goes for gardening programmes too when they are planting bulbs in February and you are watching it in August!!

OH MY GOD Eek
I cannot believe that they would even consider axing GFL. Are they mad?? It seems that every other channel under the sun is trying to cash in on the foodie thing and they want to end the one thing that makes the channel unique? Is this a case of Chefs expecting more money because they can command it on terrestrial TV or is someone having an episode? Come on UKTV Food the only time I really watch is when Jennys on the box Wink

I can't believe I'm not going to get my daily fix of food and fun. The powers that be must be mad to axe Jeni and GFL. GFL is by far the best food programme on UKTV Food. Lets face it most are repeats of old series previously seen on BBC. Let's hope we see Jeni back on our screens very soon. Good luck for the future Jenni. xx

Cry Mad
I am both upset and annoyed that Jeni and her team are being taken off air. THis programme is one of the best shows on TV - don't know what I will do without my nightly dose of Great Food Live. This is the only reason I subscribed to Sky TV which I will now be cancelling as there is no point if I cannot watch Jen and her team of chefs. Surely this decision MUST BE reconsidered - WE WANT HER BACK.

Stupid, Stupid, stupid is all I have to say about the 'powers that be' for letting GFL go. Wait for it.... perhaps we'll be treat to a new programme of celebrity supermarket shopping. or celebrity cooker cleaning or celebrity snoring or some other inane waste of air time. Come on Mr/Ms head of programme selection think again !!!!

My wife and our little boy Alex (and I when I get the chance) have watched and enjoyed GFL for several years. This is/was a really superb programme - educational and informative as well as funny and entertaining. Great credit should go to the people behind the scenes of the programme as well as to Jeni - and the chefs in front of the camera. Jeni - good luck and we hope to see you on our screens again soon. xxx

How am I going to survive without Jenni and her friends. I think you must be crazy to be axing this show. Its the only live show on a channel full of repeat after repeat. As a nation we are trying to encourage people to cook more and use local produce and this programme gives people some fantastic ideas. Not only that but on the bleakest of days, Jenni brings such warmth and humour into our lives. I wish her well and hope to see her on our screens again very soon.

Do not take off Jeni and her programme, you will lose too many viewers, the show is pure entertainment, both myself and my 16 year old daughter have been waching hte programme for many years, this programme has taught my daughter about healty eating and encourages her to cook and invent recipes and mixes food which neither I nor her school could ever do. You will be damageing the Nation more than your realise if you axe this show. Please re-think as this is avery shallow decision.

I really don’t understand why GFL has been axed. It seems to me that it’s not an easy task to make a show about food interesting and entertaining and Jeni Barnett has delivered every time. I’ve printed so many recipes from the site, improved my cooking so much, I can’t believe it’s coming to an end. I understand from other e-mails that Jeni Barnett isn’t everybody’s cup of tea but I have watched the show for the past four years and always found her very professional, lively and genuine. I certainly won’t watch “Market whatever” which I guess will replace the show. If the producers think that Tom Parker-Bowles and Mrs Ramsay is the way forward for the channel, it’s clear they don’t know who their audience is. My in-laws’’ Christmas present was a year subscription to Sky mainly because of GFL!! I really wish I hadn’t bothered now.

I agree with all of the above. Time and again it seems that Joe Public doesn't get a say in anything these days! I too have printed off numerous recipes from the show and have found the show to be fun and informative as well as giving me a great laugh each day. There will definitely be a huge void without GFL. I wish Jeni and her team lots of luck for the future and here's hoping that we'll see you back very soon. I cannot say I'm that inspired by most of what's on the menu for future UKTV food viewing!

I subscribed to a more expensive package on NTL...Virgin whatever it is......just to watch GFL with Jeni.
I would be devastated if it wasn't on any longer.

She and the team have been a cornerstone of my life for years!

All the best to Jen- and congrats to UKTV Food for making a huge mistake! Confused

This is just typical of the powers that be..........when something is a success, they get rid of it and replace it with repeats. I love this programme, not only for the recipes of which I have used many and impressed many a guest but for the pure, fresh entertainment that Jeni and guests give us daily.

Good luck Jeni Confused Cry

Confused Angry I can't believe Jeni and the gang are being axed the powers that be haven't got a clue I suppose it will be replaced by another repeat of Nigella Bites or Rick Stein all at Sea. Love both of them but how many times can you watch Nigella raid the fridge at midnight or Rick go out in a boat!!! The other food channel was Carlton Food Network.

I can't begin to express my feelings. I had two strokes last October (T.I.A) My powers of speech were helped by watching Jeni et al. My depression has been lifted by her and the lovely fun things she does. Please tell her that we, her fans, will follow her to whatever channel will use her talents to the best. Love you Jeni.
