I won't miss the show or Jeni to be honest, stopped watching quite a while ago as Jeni just got too much for me, so I just turned over, but still watch other programs on UKTV Food.

I have to admit I didn't believe it when it was first said the show was to be axed, I was more upset by the departure of Food Uncut, I liked it.

What I will not miss is all the questions on here such as..........

Where did Jeni get that top?
What was that nail varnish?
What lip gloss did she have on?
Who does Jeni's hair?

It is/was a food program, not the Jeni Barnett show.

And if one more person asked where they could buy the glasses with the stems.............. no no, I won't tempt it!!

I wonder if the new show will have a forum on here? I wonder if the same team will be dealing with it? If so, I hope they are more on the ball than they have been in the past for GFL.

Well hello tina6, fancy seeing you back here, after all this time! No I'm not well at the mo, or I wouldn't have been here so much today Big Grin Hope you and all your young men are well. Cool

Roopa, sorry I didn't mean to "out" you, just felt people should recognise who you are and see your contributions, or whatever. Hope you know what I mean.

I have now posted three lots of posts about being gutted that GFL is finishing. I know that there is nothing out there that will ever match the programme, presenters and chefs. Having watched from the beginning and also how these message boards have changed and evolved over the past couple of years, I did stop posting and came back recently to find that it is now going off air soon! I have had a lot of fun watching the shows and also much advice from many helpful contributors and also chefs who post here too. I hope that we can look forward to something exciting I am ever hopeful that it will come up with a format that is as good as GFL and Jen.

Looking at what is out there at the moment we are faced with repeats, Saturday Cooks (which has been shown to be a bit cunning and cheeky making out it is live and yet has already been recorded ) Also these stupid programmes that appear to be cookery (Soapstar Superchef) and are just another reality show type prog get them away!

I am posting on lots of threads and hope that I am not too boring but feel I must as I WILL MISS THIS PROGRAMME !!!!!!!! Confused Confused

Well taking GFL off air has to be one of the battiest decisions in tv history. WHY? Its vibrant informative, great recipies; champions local and good food and provides a great balance of humour and cookery. The chefs are all high achievers and explain their cookery simply and expertley. GFL extra is a fabulous show bringing the mechanics of the art to life. The 'consumer' spot as I call it is objective aboput the products tested. We serously need to lobby the UKTV f pple as this is a dreadful mistake.

I watch GFL most days and think it is one of the best programmes on tv I was totally devasted when I heard it is to be taken off the air, Jenni is I agree a ray of sunshine well she brightens up my day. I cannot understand why it is to be taken off when there is so many programmes on that are repeats and sooooooo boring to watch again and again and again. why cant there be room for GFL and this new programme which I have no desire to watch. To say that it is time to move on and try new things is a bit of a cop out especially when it appears that GFL has a large and loyal following if its not broken dont fix it. Please reconsider and don't take GFL off air but make space for both prgrammes I like so many will not be turing onto UKTVfood if GFL goes Cry Cry Cry Cry Cry Cry Cry Cry Cry Cry

Angry Bitterly dissappointed to hear the best food prog on tv is being taken off. Have learnt so much. Seen many interesting dishes and it has been a refreshing change to see new chefs instead of the same old same old. Good luck to Jenni and the team.

I really cannot add to what has already been said, but feel I have to say something! I have only been watching GFL for about 18 months and am - as far as 2 children allow - absolutely adicted to it. I became a cook out of necessity and conjouring up 7 family meals a week, week-in, week-out can become extremely monotonous. GFL has inspired me to try new recipies, be more creative and take more pride in my efforts. I enjoy everything about the show and am always disappointed when the hour is up. I normally have to wait until the 10pm edition - which is hard going when you've been up and on the go since silly 0'clock (sometimes following a disturbed night) - but sometimes I just can't resisit putting the baby in his highchair in front of the TV at lunchtime! Jeni - what can I say? Mad Frown Cry Confused Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry

This is the first time that we have made any complaint about any TV programme. We fail to understand the logic of removing GFL from the schedule. Jenny is, without doubt, by far the best presenter on UK FOOD. She has made GFL an integral part of every food lover’s viewing. You are making a colossal error!

One thing you don’t do when running a TV channel is to axe its flagship programme. Particularly when that show is responsible for increasing the viewership of that channel as a whole.

When I heard that GFL was to be given the boot I genuinely was very disappointed and angry. For over the last five years Jeni and the team have brought a refreshing new dimension not only to a food based programming but to day time television as a whole.

Jeni and GFL have significantly helped, woken up and rejuvenated the attitudes to food, drink and general gastronomy goodness in the UK. When has a programme been so educational yet so fun to watch?

Jeni, you and the show have been more than a pleasure to watch. I god only hope that another channel picks up the show or that UKTV realise the error of their ways and reinstate the show in some guise in the near future.

I am truly gutted that the ONLY show on uktvfood that is worth watching is going, I have watched GFL for many years and can only pressume that the person in charge of the decision has undergone a lobotomy or has suffered a nasty blow to the head and will come to their senses! Jeni and GFL are an institution, one that has given me many, many hours of enjoyment over the years and, quite frankly, an institution that I will not let go of without a fair bit of kicking and screaming. As said above, if Jeni goes I go, and judging by the amount of people that seem to feel the same way, I wouldn't like to be an exec at uktvfood in the next few weeks!

Just signed the petition. I'm new to these boards but felt I had to add my disappointment at the axing of GFL. I've loved watching Jeni over the past few years, she's a great presenter, a true natural and professional. I'm dreading watching the final show, I'm sure there won't be a dry eye in the studio or for all the viewers watching.
Thank you Jeni, you're an absolute star, and I hope we will see you on our screens again very soon

Mad Angry Angry Confused Why the hell do we have to put up with whole weekends of repeated shows about the same chefs and the only bright fresh current show is being axed? Are the "suits" aware of the rubbish they are churning out at other times and rely on GFL to keep the viewers loyal - DONT DO IT - just wait till yr figures drop and then wait for heads to roll - i Hope its too late for you by then to get Jenny and the crew back as i'm sure some other channels will be waiting to snap them up !!!
