alternatives to parmesan cheese

Any suggestions on what cheese I can use instead of Parmesan for pasta bakes and other recipes that use it? I just can't stand the smell, let alone the taste of it. It doesn't matter if its a really good quality piece of parmesan or the horrible powdered stuff my reaction to it is still the same. Thanks Blurgh

Or don't use cheese at all try cream and toss in in some buttered roasted herbed bread crumbs and give grated cheese to those who like the taste, by the way pecorino and parmesan are different as cheese......and.....er...chalk!

I think pecorino may well have the same effect on the OP. You could use any cheese for the majority of dishes where parmesan is called for - it will simply give you a slightly different flavour, texture and smell.

You could use pecorino cheese it is very similar to parmesan
