Glace Cherries sinking to bottom of cake

Has anyone got any tips on how to stop glace cherries sinking to the bottom of the cake, I have followed receipe exactly ?

Thanks all for the tips - I will wash them and toss them in flour and see how it works

The accepted way is to rinse them in warm water to wash off the excess syrup then dry them thoroughly on a clean cloth

try tossing them in a little flour ( I think thasts the way to stop this)
