Thread Starter: Stephen53    Started: Thu 14 Jul 2005    Replies: 4

I have found whats looks like to be a great recipe but it contains coconut milk and the problem is that anytime I have eaten something with coconut milk it made me heave, so I was wondering if you could subsitute it with something else??

If it is the taste of coconut you don’t like then to replace the creaminess I would agree crème fraiche, yoghurt, or even whipping cream. If you then think it needs something to replace the coconut flavour, I would suggest a little almond essence or some ground almonds.

I have heard of evaporated milk being used as a substitute for coconut milk but have never tried it myself.

It does sound like a nice recipe so good luck experimenting Smile

What other ingredients are in the recipe? First thought is that you could use some creme fraiche, or a delicate flavour such as saffron -- depends on the rest of the recipe.
