A Cook's Tour/Antony Bourdain

Thread Starter: Tim5    Started: Mon 06 Jun 2005    Replies: 9

I have really been enjoying these series, especially after reading his book (highly recommended). Have I missed it, but has there been an episode of him in the UK? He has the chapter "Fire over England" in his book, in which he says that he had his film crew in Ramsey's kitchen, but I haven't seen any footage of this. Its a shame, since Americans will be missing out on a positive aspect of British food and cooking yet again. Bourdain's favourite restaurant in the world is St John (a superb place), and he is a big fan of Ramsey, but where is the evidence?

I've been waiting ages for the series to appear in UK since reading the book. Is there any word if the chapter on Scottish food will be aired as an episode?

I love this show too.

Yesterday's episode was the one where he goes around New York Bars.

In one bar he says a fantastic quote "This is the kind of place where you have 1 drink, then you have a second drink and then you wake up in a different City, with no clothes wondering how the hell you got there".Cool

I love this programme. I have seen some of them before but it is always enjoyable watching the repeats. He will eat basically anything.........once....... thought one of the best was in Mexico where he ate the worst meal of his life!! Think it was commodo dragon or something. Anyway can't wait to see the new series!

Horses for courses as they say, I can’t stand the bloke or his cooking, he is so arrogant. Watched one (and that was enough never again) programme, he went to a restaurant, ordered something did not like it and then either put it in a bag, or a plant pot (can not remember which,) but I do remember thinking what an unpleasant person.

Excellent and enjoyable series. Althought I seen them all before, I still watch the re-runs.
I also just now ordered his books the omnibus book and the recepies; can't wait to read it. Tongue

I enjoy this programme too - I'm fascinated by the different cultures and how necessity has made some cuisines be so inventive so that there is little waste.

Tim like yourself I've enjoyed the series too. I bought the omnibus book of A Cooks Tour and Kitchen Confidential and am now wondering if the series is being made available on DVD. To me it's the Michael Palin food equivalent.
At least he's not going to some fancy kitchen in large cities and getting some pretty looking food put in front of him, real food made by real people I say.
